at least half the blame for this lies with all three states and their public utilities commissions. MANY folks warned that Fairpoint was not prepared for the vast nature of the proposal and also warned that Verizon wasn't being totally honest with Fairpoint about some things, such as the condition of the vehicle fleet, and that Fairpoint was overstating its' ability to take over these systems. But all three states approved this dismal deal. Now customers of Fairpoint and Fairpoint employees deal with the mess that has been made. All the foul-ups are at the leadership level; the employees are the basically the same as the ones who worked for Verizon AND Bell Atlantic before that.
