We can't even supposedly afford to clean up the despicable graffiti in the children's park, how can we afford this monument?! And if we have this kind of money, why don't we build a children's park at the Riverwalk for the children who are alive now to enjoy? There is nowhere for the children to play who live in the rentals along Howe Ave. The playground at Lafayette is the size of a postage stamp and doesn't even have swings!

you're an idiot, maybe if people took care of their own kids our taxes would go down. I want BREAKFAST and lunch at school for my kids, I want after school day care for my kids, I want a childrens park for my kids, I want someone to clean up the graffiti from SOMEONE ELSES KIDS, wah wah wah. I got an idea- how about you keep your legs closed until you can afford to take care of your own kids Laura???

Dear Shelton: if you're going to build a memorial then get it right; unlike Monroe where the names on the Civil War monument don't match those listed in Ed Coffey's (the town historian - so HE should know!) book "A Glimpse of Old Monroe".
