The west haven police department has always acted as a separate entity. West Haven is a police state unto itself! And, we pay outrageous taxes to support these guys! West Haven has been a police state for as long as I have lived there. Nothing has changed. When I first was stationed in ARIZONA , I knew I was truly home. Here we all can carry concealed weapons as long as we aren't felons. Wake up people and sue the W.Haven police department.

Most, if not all police depts can now do almost anything they want. They can do anything as long as they keep it out of the Court system. Blacklisting is easy for them as long as most people follow police instructions.

If police coerce auto repair people to not service a person's car, the car owner is in big trouble (existing without a car is difficult).

Not completely true.

Every State has its share of antigun people. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer took police advice and refused to sign legislation to allow guns in govt buildings and on campus.

I live in Illinois and have a FOID card, yet the police have blacklisted me as a gun owner (and Arizona police would blacklist me too).

I am not usually one to defend police or government for that matter but I know that municipalities are allowed to charge their own taxes outside of the State's...what makes this any different legally? I actually just finished my application and am going to get my fingerprints soon and yes the process was a bit annoying and seemed like a bit much but my question comes from a legal perspective...if municipalities can tax us on things the State does not, why can't they make their own rules in regards to carrying? This is coming from someone going through the process...if they need to follow the State guidelines then this should be done across the board for all laws, not just carry laws..I guess that's my real point

What's not true? I didn't say we could carry guns into schools! I didn't say we could carry guns into court buildings. What I mean is that as long as one is not a fellon, we don't have to have any permit of any kind to carry a pistol under our belt. We can bring guns into bars, stores, etc. I don't know what you did in Ill. What is a FOID?

Seeker, that is incorrect. According to the CT state constitution, the municipalities are allowed to tax only land and real estate, everything else is reserved to the state and Feds. Chick Celentano took W. Haven to court 15 years ago to prove this, and won. Many CT municipalities seem to be charging taxes unlawfully, or calling them 'fees,' but that is not constitutional. They want us to believe that they can do it, though.
