So who was the commander with sticky fingers? C'mon, WIVB, let's do some reporting here! It shouldn't be that hard to find out who Det. Delano was talking about!
Who was Leo Donovon? Who is the half brother of Donughe? How about some research.

IF EVIDENCE COULD PROVE THAT DENNIS DONOHUE WAS GUILTY OF CRYSTALLYN'S MURDER, CAN'T HIS IMMUNITY BE REVOKED BECAUSE HE COMMITED PERJURY DURING HIS TESTIMONY?

OK, once again, why does Frank Clark still have a job as DA? Although he had nothing to do with the case years ago, he has mishandled the end result. There should be an investigation done by the FBI or another out-side agency. "We the people of this county and city stand behind the only cop that has guts, detective Dalano. He has come to the people for support because he knows something smells of a big "rat" with his superiors.

Mr Delano is a cold case detective, he is only doing his job.He is not a stupied man or is the Public. This all sounds like a cover-up. He's digging up dirt and the Police Dept. doesn't like that. Will he find other things.
That's not what he is doing. The case is Lynn Dejaks case. Some in the dept. have said in the past that it WAS Lynn Dejak that murdered her daughter, Now with more evidence they were wrong! Let Mr. Delano do his JOB! Leave him alone! He who is without sin cast the first stone.

Channel 4 needs to blow this story wide-open by finding out who is hiding from the truth!! The people should know the truth!!!! Report, report and report!!!!!

Carl Kolchak would be disappointed with how this story has been handled!!!!! "Scary"!!!

"PUT UP OR SHUT UP" again why does this loud-mouth DA still have a job????????

Leo Donovan was the best homicide chief the city has seen. When he spoke, the media listened.

I wish Frank Clarke would take his own advice and just "shut up!!" He has gone back and forth with so many different statements throughout this whole DeJack case. What he can't stand is that someone IS willing to step forward and tell the truth!!! An innocent women spent 13 years in jail for a supposed murder of her beloved daughter and what did Frank Clarke want to do- TRY HER AGAIN!!! Instead of just admitting that a huge mistake was made, no he has to let this poor women continue to suffer. SHAME ON YOU FRANK CLARKE! I applaud Dennis Delano for wanting the truth to come out- FINALLY!

Is Delano the only detective on the cold case squad? Where is his partner in all of this?
Every interview with him consists of many "I's"
and very few "We's".
I am guessing there are many good detectives working those cases who are equally concerned with the truth but do not feel the need to have their faces in the media every chance they get.
good for you David! I was wondering the same thing. Has any one of the MANY officers who worked the Anthony Capozzi case come to his defense? Could it be they did the leg work while he stood in front of many cameras and took the credit? Also, if he's such a stand up, honest guy why not follow the rules that other officers adhere to! There is a way to get to truth-just ask his fellow cold case officers who are not suspended!

Dennis Delano has given life back to two people - Anthony Capozzi and Lynn Dejac. Now his has been taken from him and what he loves to do - helping the innocent and the little people. Who is hiding what and is afraid of what Dennis Delano may uncover next. Good work by an honest and upright man. God bless you Dennis Delano. You are not the first to be persecuted for rightiousness sake.
He did not help the little people all alone-MANY officers from different areas helped him. Are they defending him now? If not why- maybe they know the other side of him!

Termination, or retirement? I bet the good detective will quietly retire from public service.

While I agree that Mr. Delano's release of Dejac case evidence to the news media was improper, one can only wonder what Mr. Gipson's logic was for removing him from the case after his many years of investigation. Then, there is the magic eraser snow job on the death certificate presided over by the DA's office. Mr. Delano's frustration with the system has earned him transition into retirement. The gag order he now is operating under is undoubtedly the "shut up or else" threat that places his full retirement package in jeopardy. If his suspension is lifted, you can be sure that the only significant cold cases he will be assigned will be something important like determining who sprayed grafitti on downtown parking meters.

This might give a little perseptive as to the need to hide that there may have been a number of errors compounded over the years.

Buffalo, NY (AP/WBEN)- Buffalo police detectives are taking another look at the 1993 killing of a 13-year-old girl whose mother was convicted of her murder.
The reopening of the case comes after police charged a 55-year-old man with murder for a strangling that occurred the same year that Crystallyn DeJac was killed. Her mother -- Lynn DeJac -- was convicted of killing the girl and remains in prison.

At the time of the teen's slaying, Lynn DeJac had just broken up with Dennis Donohue of Kemmore.

Wednesday, Donohue was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge in the September 1993 strangling of 42-year-old Joan Giambra.

Police now say Donohue is "a person of interest" in the teen's slaying and in the 1975 unsolved strangulation of Carol Reed, a woman who lived in Donohue's apartment building.

DeJac's attorney is asking for DNA analysis of blood evidence from the scene of the murder.

The Bufalo News this morning says DeJac broke down in her prison cell and cried when told that Donahue's case was being reviewed.

"He's killed many women. I always knew that," DeJac is quoted as saying in the news.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark tells WBEN's Barbara Burns that he is taking a wait and see approach before reopening most any conviction because of new evidence, but would do so in any case where there's concrete proof.

Both Giambra and Reed were killed on September 9th, which is Donohue's birthday.

The Buffalo police Cold Case Squad reopened the Giambra case last year, when improved DNA technology turned up new evidence from the crime scene.

Yet Clark remains cautious, telling Burns: "Show me". To hear more with Clark, click the audio link above for Barb's report.

And I am struck by the dates

Remember Sanchez murdered Linda Yellen and Joan Driver on the same dates. Years apart, alomost like a taunt "catch me if you can"

This is just food for thought.

And per WIVB the evidence in Carol Reed strangulation death is lost and/or missing

and if you change the death of Crystlynn to cocaine od you take OFF the table serial murderer.

IT TAKES THREE MURDERS TO BE COSIDERED SERIAL BY THE FBI

But the only thing these three people have in common is Dennis Donahue and they all died by strangulation!

And if I had the resources or ability I would do a database search on all rapes and or strangulation and murders (female)(solved and unsolved) in western new york from 1975 to 2007.

And this is just hearsay but I have heard it several times on talk shows that Donahue had a brother and or Brother-in-law that was very wellplaced in the BPD. I am not impling that this person was trying to shield a serial murderer .....but then those that knew Altimio Sanchez had no clue. He Kept his OTHER life well hidden.

I just don't know why they had to change it. Why couldn't they wait until all parties were finished with the investigation. I am not being sarcastic. I really don't understand it. It really is what bothers me most. Can anyone tell me why it had to be done? and why it had to be done before all was proven?
Theresa, to change the cause of death to cocaine od takes OFF the table the FBI being brought in for a serial murderer.

Seeking the truth ansered me by saying and let me tell you he or she is very informed

1 murder - 9/9/75 - Carol Reed Strangulation death
Evidence lostby PBD

2 murder - 2/1993 - Crystallynn Girard Strangulation
changed to cocaine OD

3 murder - 9/9/1993- Joan Giambra Stangulation -
Trial pending - accused Dennis
Donahue ****Dennis Donahue's Birthday september 9th.

I believe like another serial murderer Sanchez,(Yellen and Driver murdered on the same day years apart, it is taunt at the police "catch me if you can"

And Delano is fearful this guy may NOT be convicted in the Giambra murder

I don't expect the Bimbo detectives that rode on Delano's coat tails and enjoyed the media circus to stick up for him, they're too busy sleeping their way into a Detective Sergeant position. Who knows, once the reach sergeant maybe they can leap into a deputy commissioner position like the two nimrods in office now did (Lockwood and Derenda).

The BPD needs to take militant labor action to get the message across.

The same date Carol Reed and Joan Giambra were murdered! Ironic!
I am starting to believe you may be seeking the truth!! I know it's out there. PLEASE HELP.
The clues just need to be collected. Dennis Donohue MURDERED these women. He had to have shown this side before September 9, 1975. If someone can connect the dots the FBI can investigate. This help Dennis Delano by showing he did the right thing. If he was told to drop the investigation of a serial killer it would be illegal to follow that order. Keep writing.

we need to take a step back and remember that Dennis Delano is a Officer of the Law, protecting all of us..thru the COLD CASE squad...he searches for truth to help those that died questionable deaths and he helps the living by protecting us. He is fighting for what he believes is the right thing to do along with thousands of folks from WNY. Also, his brother has nothing to do with this case, so leave it for another day. Mr. Biggs, how can you come on here and say what you did, when at the same time you also signed the petition to re-instate Mr. Delano and continue on the investigation? My message to Den Delano......head high...thumbs up....your a survivor.KUDOS for standing up for what you believe in. Kudos my friend.

i just dont understand if detective delano was just doing his job helping to fix the screw ups of the da office it makes you wonder how many other people are in prison that dont belong there i think that they are just trying to get rid of detective delano so he dont find out how many other screw ups that the da did its one big cover up they dont want people to find out how many other people that got railroaded i think that gibson should resign and leave detective delano alone and let him work
