Knights of Columbus and KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken not quite the same buildings, however now they have a kitchen now so they can fry their own chicken. Next grant money and tax dollars, new state of the art kitchen, new furniture, all new electronics, new wiring the old will not work, new windows, new insulation, new parking, new roof, new bathrooms. Thats a lot of fluff to throw at the public during these down times.

How much money was spent in the start of the remodel of the old building on Gold street. The building was partly trashed before they decided to stop their work on it. Any one have the numbers of the loss we absorbed on the old purchase?

Someone else mentioned on the Forum that the county holds around 29-31 properties already. If some of these were properties with good sized buildings on them then I'd like to know why some of those weren't considered before they spent another $170,000 on the K of C building. Although maybe what the county has and what this department wants can't work hand in hand, I don't know. I'm all for having good security, even at each end of town, but it seems that money tree they keep picking from is pretty bountiful for just about everything they have their eye on to purchase.
Their use of money has the appearence of laundering money. Their politics have very deep political connections to some very questionable people who are all under investigation.$170,000 is just a drop in the bucket on their next spending spree.

This is how they do it:
They will re-model / add on
They will order way more materials then necessary
Then they will use the extra materials for their own personal gain or use ( kinda like the tile from the new court bldg.)

I wonder if the useless Grant Administrator is profiting from these deals. Remember she learned how to be as corrupt as the previous "Good Ol' Boys" that used to use grant money to their advantage. She is probably teaching the clueless so called Count Manager Sutherland how to be like the previous Administration. I agree with "Waste of Money", they need to get rid of the Grant Administrator and County Manager. Sutherland can't even remember what he is told from one day to the next...clueless to County Government.

Luna County Commissioners, you need to do your job and get rid of the inexperienced County Manager and Grant Administrator, they are screwing the taxpayers of Luna County any way they can. Let it all be know, the Grant Administrator knows nothing about writing grants, keeping track of the money coming in and going out....get her out of there before she causes the County to go broke.

I agree with "Money Tree", the County has lost so much tax-payers money on projects that they purchase with grant money and then do nothing with them and try to sell them because it was a waste. Look at the person that the County has as their Grant Administrator, this person is over paid and does not know how do her job, and doesn't even have common sense. Why would the County use the CDBG money to buy the building by the Sanchez's Exxon gas station. We DO NOT need another Youth Center, we already have the Star Maxx to keep our youth occupied with activities. Why do we even have public meetings for the CDBG, this person has her mind made up with what she wants to do with this grant money, and many times, it's a bust, nothing comes out of it!
I think the County needs to get rid of the current Grant Administrator and get someone that knows what they are doing. Luna County is wasting grant money, but yet, she sits behind her desk making 65K a year wasting tax-payers money!
Get rid of her and while your at it, get rid of the County Manager, he is clueless to everything going on in this County and is listening to the wrong people.

It will be interesting to see who all the county picks to do the , design, electric, parking lot drainage etc. It was sad to hear in the headlight paper that a traffic study was not done before the purchase of this latest property for the LCSO. That is too late to think about once you have a purchase that is three years old. These types of purchases are proving to show a lack of respect for the tax payer who is funding all these projects.

What did the County do with the sub station they built for the LCSO in Columbus? It was about a six hundred thousand dollar project and the LCSO did not like the location and refused to move into it. It was a bad location how ever ,that should have been thought out prior to spending more of the tax payers dollars.

Its been four years and another ''Sheriff'' shopping spree is not in use yet. Thats a lot of money to use for a storage yard. I wonder if the new sheriff will continue the shopping trend' of using the tax payers money for purchaes that cannot be used. How are the cell towers coming along so those lap top computers you bought with grant money can be used..... that was six years ago plus or minus? Too old to use now. They are still in boxes?
Any one notice the reports to the commission never have the miles and the gas used to justify the money these people spend to patrol your county. The Columbus sub station was broken into last month and the report for the paper cannot even give you what was stolen no amount given? What is up with that report?
The crime report to the commissioners says there is no crime in Columbus, could be because this department is never there? No accountability in this department and they know the citiziens dont care so they can do what ever they want with your tax dollars. They always need more money they never have enough. How is it that counties with a lot less funding do so much more with what they have than Luna County.

It did not surprise me that Mrs French who is running for commissioner was instrumental in voting for the purchase of this property. This property is another Sheriff department shopping spree with your tax dollars. This post is four years od and the only thing this property is in use for is a storage lot.
Luna County has a two million dollar budget per month and is very wealthy for a county of this size.
The are better things to do with our tax dollars than purchasing properties and not using them for the purpose they were purchased for. This is the reason this department needs an over sight board. They do not have to prove any accountability for their bad choices so with out this they will continue to rob you the tax payer of your hard earned mony.
