Who were the Pershing Chinese?

Hundreds of Chinese from Texas and Mexico supported the US Army in 1916 and were allowed to stay in America and eventually became citizens.

I am last of Pershing Chinese. We have tradition of giving honor to a memory of our parents in both our first and last names.
My first name is in memory of my Mother's dinner bell.

They were Mexican Chinese who became targets for revenge from Mexican revolutionaries because they had been perceived as collaborating with US troops which invaded Mexico under General Pershing. So General Pershing prevailed on Congress to exempt them from the Chinese Exclusion Act, and they found safety in America.
