I will continue to exercise my constitutional right to protest and speak out against those who want to restrict those rights and freedoms that are guaranteed in the founding documents of this great nation.
JIM W. HARBISON

Good call, Jim. We should all get involved in understanding our history and how our freedoms need to be protected. Education, Education, Education

Mr. Harbison, you have insulted me by calling me a socialist because I'm environmentally conscious and don't want my beloved city to turn into another Tucson or Phoenix. I love walking and running on desert trails and roads. You would have given the developer free reign to do whatever they wanted. Over-development has glutted the market and is one reason that home values have declined so much in the last two years. Supply and demand. We have an over-supply of houses and the developers want to build more, and you would have let them. Just because I'm against over-development, doesn't make me a socialist. I'm glad I didn't vote for you.

Now if we could get as much wild support for the First Amendment as there is for the Second Amendment we would really have something.

There are approximately 18 million vacant homes in the U.S. It is about the money supply, which hyper inflated properties everywhere. The ponzi/party is over my friend. Go to shadowstat.com and get the real facts. The hiccup turned into a bleeding ulcer and won't go away.

What a wack job this Harbison guy is. Railing against all kinds of things that aren't happening. The Patriot Act is the biggest taking of our rights most of us have seen in our lives but he's ok with that one apparently. What a hypocrite.

Our guns are safe, there is no "plan" to do anything with the 2nd Amendment. Why not focus on rights that really have been impinged on and not wing-nut fantasies.

Reading Harbison's letter today makes me so very glad he lost his Council race in spite of all the money thrown in the race from Harbison's own pocket and the thousands spent on advocating for him by the Builders Association. Looks like Las Cruces citizens voted for the sane, level-headed person for Council, not the fearful, gun-toting one. It seems to me the Tea Party members are addicted to fear as well as guns. Guess who benefits from all that fear? Gun manufacturers and dealers.

New Mexico has about 2,000,000 people living in it's 121,665 sq miles. A population density of 16 people per sq. mi. 6th lowest in the nation. I really don't think your going to run out of desert roads and trails to walk and run on anytime soon.
