That means getting ready for the big party by cleaning up and clearing all the areas overgrown with weeds. Planting new flowers in the wine barrels in front of the business sector. Adding new paint, window displays, beautiful signage, curb appeal, landscaping. To look the very best as a city for our visitors, tourists and locals to spend money.

Maybe those fine talented artistic Deming High School students from the Paint the Town project could paint a beautiful mural sign commemorating the NM Centennial and Deming's 33rd annual Duck Race. I bet it would look really awesome at the Courthouse park entrance.

I think its the business's responsibility to keep the area around them clean and clear. As well as the property owners responsibility to keep their property groomed. I don't see why people can't get a teen or someone who may be out of work to cut the weeds for a few dollars. The best solution would be to enforce stricter code ordinances. Give them a week or two to comply then fine if its not done. It works in Las Cruces. Sorry but I call it like I see it. I commend those who have been helping out. The streets do look a lot better. I wouldn't mind volunteering if I knew the people were under hardship especially the older generation.
