On a recent trip I took to Arizona I saw quite a few AZ Centennial signs posted on I-10. Good going AZ. Its sad that NM didn't put up any NM Centennial signs or billboards on I-10. Oh well maybe next time.

The new mural put up on Mr. Sherman's building in Deming would have made a nice looking NM Centennial sign or billboard. NM has many great artists. Too bad no one from the Centennial committee or NM Tourism took advantage of all that talent to promote the centennial on our highways.

Sounds like you have a vision. Why not get involved with them if its something you think should be done? Do you have any idea what it takes to get a permit for a bill board ,land rent etc?

Its getting close to the end of our centennial year. There are still a few events going on though. Deming Arts Center has a Native American Art exhibit going on till the end of this month with many photographs never seen before on display. Holy Water & Whiskey also performing today at 2 p.m. at Morgan Hall. A Holiday Art Festival is planned for November 17 at the Mimbres Learning Center with many featured artists from all over the southwest. Gotta take advantage of attending these if possible.

If schools in Luna county refuse to recognize that they are under the charter of one of these United States, and teach kids that America is separate from Mexico, why should I care when New Mexico was formalized?

Hey man you should stay on the blogs on the east side of NM (take your sarcasm and racism with you) and let the rest of NM celebrate their great multiculturalism and multilingualism state centennial. For that matter you'd probably fit in better in a state like Georgia with your Honey Boo Boo redneck kind.

Hummm you don't seem to mind his sarcasm and racism remarks but once someone tries to put 'em in his place you get bent out of shape. Double standard?

All Racism is ugly. You can put someone in their place with out stooping to their level.
Calling someone a redneck is also a racial slur. The good point you are wanting to make gets lost when you name call. peace

To both 'anne' and 'Kid': Thanks for your interest, but what I said had nothing to do with race.
I wouldn't care if it were Wales or Finnland to the south of us and were full of card-carrying Tea Party members. If they ain't Americans, they don't belong here. Other countries don't fund our fancy stuff like schools for our kids and we shouldn't fund fancy stuff like schools for theirs'.

If you wish, I can type slower so you get it.

You're right, I apoligize, I just got carried away. Everything this guy from Artesia writes is full of sarcasm and anti mexican. He forgets that this state was once part of Mexico and many people here of hispanic decent were here before NM was a state. Maybe he shouldn't live in a state whose name is part of Mexico.

Would be nice if the Headlight or the NM Tourism Dept. compiled pictures/video of centennial events in Deming or of the entire state and put them into a publication for us to enjoy all the pictures of hapennings during our centennial year. Just a thought.
