Has anyone noticed how dark it is in town lately? The lights around the Courthouse Park are off. The lights behind the Comfort Inn all the way to the Truck Stop have been off for more than a month, and almost every other light down Pine Street is off or not working. I just want to caution everyone to be careful while driving not to hit a pedestrian, cyclist or other driver.

Why are the city lights right down the center of downtown still out (corner of Gold and Pine)? They have been out since the summer: 6 months now Is the City ever going to fix them???? What are the tourists suppose to think when they see all the lights are out in this town?

This might help answer your question:

Not everyone thinks it is OK to waste energy by lighting up the undersides of airplanes, while at the same time wiping out what used to be a wonderful view of the heavens and millions of stars.

What's going on? I just drove to KFC to get some chicken and all the lights from Snappy Mart to La Fonda on Pine are out as well as the lights on Cedar St. in the same area. It's really dark. An accident waiting to happen. What are the tourists going to think about our town? Speaking of tourists, why is the train at the Visitors Center not lit up and decorated? It always use to be.

On a positive note though, the Lyndecker Plaza by Wells Fargo Bank looks really nice and festive and the Christmas lights down main look great too.

As far as the star gazers comenting on this, not wanting the lights on, stay out in the county and watch all the stars you want, but here in the city where there's more traffic we really need the street lights on.
