NO LACK OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN DELTONA?! What is this, Metro West...Bay Hills...Isleworth? There is PLENTY of affordable housing. Just ask all the landlords who will let ANYONE rent their property in this City. There is plenty of section-8 to go around.

...I meant "A Lack of affordable housing" (to quote the article).

They really need to do something about the homeless people who hang around at Olive Garden/Publix and at the movie theater in Orange City. Also the police need to be more aware of the homeless camp behind a few Winn-dixie's and across from the library by the city hall.

The people who hang out in those for the most part keep to themselves, but there is an idiot who will run out in front of your car by Winn-Dixie on Deltona Blvd. and roll on the ground yelling about hitting him when he never even touched your car.

BTW, next time I see that red headed woman at Olive Garden put her hand on someones car door to stop them from shutting the door so she can badger them for money because 'her car broke down under the bridge and she has been living in it for a week' I am calling the cops.

She claims she's pregnant, but she's been pregnant for 2 years now!

True story: I had someone approach me for money in a parking lot. I told them I don't carry cash (which I don't) and he responded with, "I'll take a check!"

I had another homeless guy approach me at the ATM in broad daylight and ask me to give him some money since I was there already.

I told him I would go in the bank and call the police if he didn't leave and he just walked away and said he didn't want trouble.

They all work in packs around Publix up on Enterprise.

Maybe Orange City Police will read these blogs and move them out of the area. Unfortunately, they'll end up someplace else harassing other people. Like in Orlando, when they cracked down on panhandling in the Downtown area, all the homeless moved up Colonial into Pine Hills (as if Pine Hills needed more of that). One guy used to come up to my car window and banged on it asking (yelling) for money at the intersection of Colonial and Hastings. I had my Daughter in the car and it scared the hell out of her. If he hadn't moved just as the light turned green, I would have crushed his toes speeding out of there.

I actually called the police on another guy and woman who came out of the woods on a Sunday when I went up to the bank to get money out of the ATM.

I didn't get out and they walked behind my car. So I rolled my window down and asked them to move and the guy shouted to ask if I had $10. I told him no and he said they weren't moving. So after giving them a few minutes and asking them to move again I called the police. OC police told me they didn't have the man power to deal with that issue and to get out, ask them to move one more time and try to back out around them.

I got out told them to move or I was backing out anyways whether they moved or not. They went back into the woods after that.

Not too long after that I went into the bank and mentioned what happened to the manager who told me the police had been up there that morning rounding up a large group of homeless people in a van. Apparently 7 of them came out that morning and harassed people coming into the bank for money and the bank called the police on them.

I hope they do read these forums because I think they take a backseat to the people up there in the woods and they really need to do something about it now.

send the homeless guy to deltona. We are giving away millions to homeless, low income and everyone but helping the people who foot the bills. The the city will find ways to squeeze more out of them.
This city will be one step above the homeless. it's looking rough and it will get worse.
Send us your poor huddled masses.
