City revisits Thornby land buy

Larry what do you think of the mater park plan and the mention of a park on Thornby? I understood it to mean from what the report said and comments for Pat Nothey and commissioners that this will be a park that will be a source of money.
It sounds like they want to tear things down and build on the land. I thought the focus was conservation of the land not development? Will what they propose bring traffic, noise, litter and asphalt and cement?
It sounds like there are two different schools of thought about the land.

Deb, that commission meeting where the Parks Master Plan Study and the County Trails plan were both presented was both very positive and encouraging.
The money making benefits being mentioned are all from the types of recreational uses that these plans can foster for Deltona and its improved parks. They are small businesses that cater to the needs and uses of such trails in a community. They generate income but have lower-impact because they are the smaller more niche-type of businesses linked to the types of recreational use of the area. If you've journeyed to some vacation oriented communities where the natural setting is the attraction (such as some Appalachian areas or some of the communities mentioned in the presentations) you'll get an idea of some of the types of businesses that might be possible. These kinds of EcoTourism oriented businesses blend more into the natural setting for something like a possible Thornby park. The possibilities for elsewhere in Deltona are encouraging as well. Lots of opportunity.
All of this is the kinds of things that would be great for a more expanded community discussion. There's so much that would be really great for the character and aesthetic appearance of the community. Just think how it could boost things.
