Scream all you want but this should have been done years ago. I've never understood how the tiny water bills could support the system.

The "tiny water bills" increase is NOT GOING TO DELTONA WATER!!
It will go to things such as paying for a "study" to determine if we want our own PD, which will end up costing more than using the Sheriff! It will go to more waste, which the Mulder-gang have done at a level never seen before!!

Why wait 5 years to review this and then pop a whopping rate increase on us? Bad planning and worse control about things going on in the city. Who's running the Nut House a clerk. This city needs a very experienced manager and some commissioner that give a fig about the kind of people that live here. These jerks aren't done with screwing things up yet. When do we get to hear about property tax increases while they plan to continue to spend. The ex-marine is the one I thought had some sense. He's a sell out too.

Hey, lighten up, I don't like our commissioners any more than you do but in this case "the blind squirrels found a nut." When you compare the cost for water in Deltona with the cost in surrounding municipalities it's damned near free. As you have noticed, recent changes in the regional economy have created an exodus from our city, over three thousand homes are empty or abandoned and another couple of thousand are in peril. The tax shortfall has to fall somewhere and right or wrong it's going to fall on OUR shoulders. Our best hope for the future is to vote thoughtfully for candidates with spine enough to use the word "NO" promptly and with enthusiasm.

A huge, whopping THANK YOU to all you Amendment 1 supporters! You watch...they'll more than make up for lost revenue by taxing everything else (water, fire service, etc.). In the meantime, our tax-supported insitutions are falling apart so that each homeowner saves virtually nothing! An extra thanks goes to Crist for the amazing savings he has provided on my tax bill...NOT!

It's true that there are lots of empty homes in Deltona, and it may be true that many more are in peril. But 3000 empty homes are 3000 homes that don't need city services such as water and police protection. The removal of roughly 12000 people from the city (3000 x 4, 24000 if they're like most families here, with 8 or more living in one house) should mean we can afford to lose the 8 deputies being threatened over the pending budget. If we don't increase the budget to keep the deputies then we should be able to absorb the loss of water revenue from 3000 empty homes without an added tax. The bottom line here is we have city commissioners who don't seem to be listening to the residents of the city. Perhaps that's because only 25% of the eligible voters voted in the last election, and only slightly more in the one prior. If we don't care enough to get to the polls and vote in the people we want to represent us in the future we have no one to blame but ourselves. Put the city police decision to a vote, if the residents want it, then we will vote for it and then it's up to the commissioners to find a way to fund it. Stop wasting our hard-earned money with studies that we don't want. Stop wasting our money, period. Mulder will never get re-elected, not as long as I'm breathing. I underestimated his support AND general voter apathy in the last election, but I won't make that same mistake again. And from what I can see, the rest of the commissioners aren't much better. You're all on notice: the residents of Deltona want and deserve better, and if you want what every politician wants (re-election) you had better start doing your jobs more effectively.

While your math is edgy, I get your point and agree with with your message. Here's the deal, the first Deltona administrations treated the city like some homeowners association where the squeaky wheel got the grease and let the others be damned. We elected Mulder because we wanted rid of the old guard, he was young, brash and actually challenged those who had come to be regulars at commission meetings. Unfortunately, as we all learned together, leadership is not one of the guys strong points. Still, it is my opinion that he has given Deltona an amusing transition from HOA to real world government. What I would like to see is for Herb, Zenaida and Michelle to bow up and make some noise, real noise when the so called gang of four try to run the steamroller over them, no tears, no questions, and no workshops, just a simple "Hey! Stop this nonsense!' Call me a dreamer____

Citizens should pay no more for water than it cost to produce. The people did speak with Admendment 1 and elected officials haven't got it yet. Cut the budget. Period. I don't care if you have to go to four work days a week or use goats to cut the grass. Reduce taxes.

How can any commissioer say stop this nonsense the mayor will bang his gavel and then do the mulder rant. I think he oversteps ghis bounds but he doesit. Correcto we should pay them not one penny more then it costs. Maybe they'll listen if amendment 5 passes. They having even got started with adding new fees and taxes on. Cit the commission and city attorney's credit card use. Truth is we have people on the commission that want what they want and will go to any lengths to get it. We need to keep a eye on them. We need to say no, no , no to any more money going into the city's accounts so they can continue to spend. They get nothing extra until they can spend effectively. They don't give us basis but what fancy things. The mayor like those designer things and we'll pay for his high style. The mayor needs to go but because he knows he would he voted to extend his term so he can cause more havoc to the city. Impreach, recall what ever it takes but we can't wait a extra to dump the mayor. By then we'll be bankrupt.
