Here we go... let's play the race card because it didn't go my way. Well, in case you haven't noticed, we have an African-American President, so the race card is obsolete. Suck it up, you lost.

Hey, Lori,
Addie's out -- so you are not going to get away with that "what's in it for me 'cuz I'm black" nonsense. You and a couple of other black folk in Delray have always banged that race bongo and your entire persona revolves around that. So sad that you could be so angry. Delray's race relations czar already ruled that you were way off base. Pretty soon we'll be seeing you in front of three psychiatrists to determine if you are a danger to yourself or others. Take some medication for your anxiety like the rest of us. And do something with that hair!

Hey Lori, Barbie is "WHITE". What the hell is your problem? Why in the hell are you trying to pull the "Race Card" when Barbie has nothing to do with Blacks? Leave it alone. She is White, was White, and will always be White. Develop your own doll. Maybe a phat assed black doll. We won't care. Really, we won't. Go have at it. Maybe you can develop a Black Doll that will be as famous as Barbie like Bubba or something.:)-

Why the hell does everything always have to come down to a racial issue? Can't the Blacks have their own hero's and the White's have theirs without every one thinking that there "MUST BE" something to do with race? Life is what Life is. You have your hero's and we have ours, only we don't have to have a major holiday or street named after them.

REALLY!?! Is there not more important issues in the world other than some doll??? Does there really need to be a fight over who gets to display the exhibit? Are we to the point of arguing who gets to play with dolls?

This woman is pathetic. Nobody wants to hear the discrimination "because I'm black" excuse anymore. It gets about as much attention as a car alarm going off in the Boynton Beach Mall parking lot. We've all heard it so loud and so often that nobody pays attention to it anymore! It is WORN OUT!!

what this woman is trying to say basically is that they stole her work and it wouldnt have happened if she were white. she wants the credit due her for the amount of work she has done. no reason for everyone to get a bee in their bonnet. i had to read the article twice before i got it because i read the posts first. and yes its true that the race card was dropped like a hot potato. so yes she did do the work and yes they did steal it from her. they could have given her due recognition. and then we wouldnt be here arguing this point and she wouldnt have had to drop the race card into the mix. so who do you fault? the woman for using the card or the city people that stole her work? and many of us know what its like to do extensive work, perhaps at your job, and to have someone else get all the glory.

"They" didn't steal anything from her. She did a show 10 years ago. Old School Square is doing another show this year. She didn't do diddly for this year's show. It's Barbie. Durante didn't invent Barbie. This is not her exhibit ten years later. It's an exhibit centered around the same subject matter as one they did 10 years ago. If OSS used some of her ideas from 10 years ago, that's the way the ball bounces. It's a lot like someone taking your recipe, adding their own spin to it, and then calling it their own. It's done everyday and it has nothing to do with race. Durante had nothing at all to do with this years show. She's an angry woman who is just trying to see how much black clout she can mobilize in Delray. Surprise, Lori -- nobody cares.

She needs to get over her bitterness, take some meds (aka Happy Pills), and be done with it. When do you ever see "credit" given to those of previous events, or those who think up the idea for the exhibit? Or anything else involving the planning of any exhibit? Wonder who's backing the museum space at the Mall...

If she was working for the museum and came up with the idea, it WAS developed in house. She does not need to be getting all uppity, and forgetting her place like this

So she was the Curator at the Cornell Museum when they had that exhibit in 1999. It might have been her idea, but it's museum property. No different than the guy who invented plexiglass while working at Dupont. It's company property, no matter which guy working for them came up with it.

They could have given her credit, but I'm suspecting there was some bad blood when she left and it's sour grapes, not necessarily racism. If there was real racism involved, she probably would not have been curator in the first place.

Oh, yeah, and the race card expired in November 2008.
No one buys it anymore.

So this woman wants recognition for the work she did 10 years ago? Get over it lady. You've got your own place to have a show. You are no longer affiliated with the Cornell Museum. They can do whatever they want and don't have to clear it with you.

Al Gore invented the internet, nobody gives him credit for it though.

I invented yard sales, but do you ever see my name on a yard sale sign?

Betty Crocker invented cook books, but does any other cook book pay homage to her?

I have known Lori for years and this kind of accusation seems out of character with the person I know.

Lori, maybe you feel you weren't given your props this time around but pulling out the race card can do nothing but hurt you in the long run.

Hi Oldie, how do you know Lori? If you know Lori then are you sure she used the "race card" and perhaps the theme of the news story was driven by the news reporter and not Lori. From what environment do you know Lori, i.e. work, school, church, etc? I am not sure Lori used the "race card" but that was the emphasis that the news reporter chose to use. I have heard the Lori filed an official complaint with Old School Square and the City of Delray Beach because the Barbie Doll idea was literally stolen from Lori for year 2009 and it complete sabotaged all of her fundraising. It has been financially devasting. I never heard that Lori filed a "racism" complaint. Lori's complain included years of verbal abuse by various entities in the City that had nothing to do with Lori complaining about racism.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Sagittarius

Be careful about what you eat and drink today, my prancing Archer. Your body is in a sensitive state, so be well advised and steer clear of anything that might upset you, or to which you're sometimes allergic. Avoid anyone who's a one-man germ factory, in case a few bugs happen to jump out and over to you. Right now, you could do without it.
