Delray Beach - It's not always all work and no play for this City Commission. Members often make tough decisions, but not without cracking one or two lighthearted jokes.

This article is a total joke. This commission has done nothing. When other cities cut jobs to make ends meet, they decided to keep everyone. Let's see them do it this year.
They've given up on race relations, Congress Avenue corridor etc. etc. and let the city manager off the hook for poor oversight of construction projects.
Where's the soccer fields I voted for?
Where's the senior center I voted for?
Carver Estates still stands three years after Wilma.
The green mayor has not done anything for the environment.
Mother Mary runs the show...no independence whatsoever.
Levinson was blunt. Maybe too much so. But he was honest and he was correct. Too bad that doesn't count anymore

LilDickey, it's easy to cut jobs - that requires no skill or forethought. It takes leadership and vision to deal with complex issues, which are not quite as simple as you seem to believe. I would challenge you to get involved for a year; then see if you make these same poorly thought out comments. Fact is, without the city manager, not much progress would have ocurred - you've not been in Delray very long, have you?
If you were here 20 years ago, you would know the changes made are not a result of elected officials (especially those from the last 4 - 6 years), but from people being able to put their egos and political aspirations aside for the benefit of the City. Levinson/Perlman were not able to be so mature or concerned about the welfare of anything but themselves. This set the City back a number of years, and just now is it recovering from them.
