When I was in high school in the late 60's, there was a "banned book list" of books we were forbiddened to read.(Catholic School) So we had an "underground" book club. Someone would buy the book and we all pass it around after reading it. We read books like "Catcher in the Rye" and "1984." Perhaps if more books were banned, kids would read more!!! I just wish we could have discussed the books in class.
Good luck Delphi!

I believe there is no more vulgarity in these books then what our children see on teleivision or in video games.

By trying to ban these books it is just raising curiosity. The children that have not read them will now because they want to know.

Omg...please...these books are tame compared to some video games I have seen kids play...bet the kids of the ones who voted to ban them have a copy of playboy they stole from thier dad stuffed under their beds...the content does not make a pervert...guilt does...

Allowing students to read books that contain language and situations that are forbidden in the student handbook sends a mixed message. I am sure there is worthy literature available whose content is in line with the conduct that is expected of the students. I applaud the parents who stood up for their principles in seeking to have these books removed from the curriculum.

Why do this...its not like the kids havent talked about it...i mean come on everyone knows about this is high school...that is mainly all you hear...there is no need for this to go on...i mean every one watches it on t.v. you see it on the television everyday on the news everyday...its a book...why ban it....
