SALISBURY -- The city's entire downtown was enveloped in flames in 1886. The conflagration left nothing behind but charred remains of wooden structures that once sat where the plaza is today and cost the city about $1.2 million to rebuild.

In Deed they came up with a new way to help prevent another continuation of fires. They simply started building with nonflamable objects like brick,stone and cement.

Judged:

At the time of the fire, the Fire station had probloms with the fire engine. It was not well kept and in result the engine itself had rusted making it impossible to pump water into or out of the hose.
