Its 2014 and Liberty Twp voters have elected two more controversial people as Trustees.

Eicchorn ran on a platform of concern for fire protection, had the endorsement of Liberty Twp firefighters, and yet failed to vote for the last fire levy. Shame shame especially since. one can vote absentee with a little effort. Makes on wonder how many Trustee meetings she will miss.

As a l candidate Mitchell procurred Twp personnel and vehicles to take a personal guided tour courtesy of Township Administrator. Dave Anderson. Makes one wonder how loose Mitchell will play with the taxpayers money.

Stay tuned the theatrics are just beginning!!..

Trying to stir the pot. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You watch and see. I bet they bring stability and common sense to the board.

The tea party got whacked in the election, and you have learned nothing from it. In principle, I support the Tea Party, but not the extremists who seem to be running things at the moment.

The theatrics will come from the so called Friends of Liberty Twp., who don't really seem to be friends to anyone but themselves. The crying and whining from Mike and Karl and Melanie will begin anew, all they want to do is cut taxes, period. It doesn't matter what the money is for, just eliminate it. That kind of thinking almost cost us our Fire Dept.
NOT SMART!

Just another version of something for nothing thinking.

Based on the last Trustee's meeting it is clear that Tom Mitchell is not interested in saving the Township money.. Could he be another tax and spend liberal? Time will tell.

Based on what? You have any facts to back up such a serious accusation? Or, does he just not see it your way, and this is sour grapes?

What are the facts?

Mitchell is just paying back his limo driver,Dave Anderson, for the free tour of the Township.

David Anderson is more interested in protecting his little kingdom than saving Township money. Exactly why government spending gets out of control. If it were his own money you bet he would first make a two minute phone call to seek potentially free legal service.

Mitchell ran as a fiscal conservative but his true colours came out in his opposition to using Dealware County legal services. The State of Ohio has challenged local governments to utilize combined services to save taxpayer dollars, but College Professor Mitchell failed with his first opportunity.

Your single minded determination is really annoying. Let's see, the DelCo Prosecutor's office said that they do not have the necessary expertise in all areas to serve the townships, so they will need to seek outside counsel. Makes sense, they are trial and criminal lawyers, for the most part. So, the biggest legal issues facing the township are zoning matters. The Prosecutor's office admits that is not their thing.
So, you want them to go there anyway. Makes me wonder who's side you are really on.

The township is perhaps not making the best use of the Prosecutor's office. However, the Prosecutor does not do zoning, the biggest issue that faces the township. So, what exactly do you expect them to do?

When it comes to regularly scheduled equipment replacement Dave Anderson et al should be able to plan ahead to utilize FREE Delaware County legal services rather than pay for local attorneys to review contracts. This is exactly what Trustees Mitchell, Eichhorn and Leneghan should be requiring of the Township Administration. Otherwise everything will be a quote "emergency" leading to the funneling of money to hire outside lawyers.

And, in this case, what do you do when you accelerate the purchase from 4th Qtr 2014 to 1st Qtr? What happens to then? Do you wait the 60 days the County Prosecutors office wants, or do you look elsewhere? A plow now is much more valuable than a plow in April, don't you agree?

You sometimes have to compromise to move forward. Apparently, Mitchell and Eichhorn felt the value of a plow now was worth getting the contract reviewed ASAP. After all, the residents benefit, don't they?

One of the worst winters in years, and you think we should hold up getting a plow until springtime. Really?

Get a life.

The 25 thousand dollars which Mitchell and Eichhorn allocated to study the new girls softball complex could have gone to building restrooms at Havenor Park which only has seasonal porta johns and no potable water for park users. It makes sense to take care of Havenor before venturing into the softball business.
Snow Plow

The snow plow to be replaced was in good working order. Just some Anderson mumbo jumbo about having a greater trade in value if done now. The Delaware County Prosecutors office regularly reviews County contracts , so the expertise is there. All it takes is a little planning on Anderson's part. Hands off "policy goverance" management is what got the City of Columbus School Board into trouble. Where there is a high level of expenditures e.g. for legal costs, it behooves the Trustees to take a more active role..

Since there is little or anything that two of the three trustees do that seems to suit a small vocal minority, I have a couple of comments.

If you are mad at everybody else, maybe the problem is you?

Exercise your constitutional rights. Move somewhere where there are like minded people to yourself. Bet that would be interesting.

Sure, the county could have reviewed the contract. It was accelerated from 4th qtr to 1st qtr. Think it through. The county would take about 60 days to review the contract. No point in moving things up to wait that long is there? Spring would be here, and the county would still be reviewing the contract. Not much use in a snowplow in April.

Keep on complaining. You are making yourself look bad, and proving you are just a small vocal minority. Ultimately, you will be dismissed out of hand.

Residents of the Bainbridge Mills Sub division should consider annexing into Powell where their is an income tax to fund special interest causes., such as relocating Bainbridge Mills Rd. If Powell doesn't have the money they could always vote to raise the income tax ..

The City of Powell is going to get all the income tax money from the Target development which is going to create further traffic concerns for the 72 homeowners in Bainbridge Mills. It is time for Powell to step up and help the residents. Eichhorn with her dual perspective should be able to help those folks annex into Powell to get their voices heard.

The Holly Foust resignation has a bit of a fishy smell , especially in light of the new job description for her replacement. Dave Anderson appears to be looking for someone to do his work, so he can have more time for personal guided tours in Township vehicles for prospective political candidates.

Foust reported to Anderson, Anderson took liberties with Township vehicles for , Mitchell's guided tour and should also resign.

Just more payback from Mitchell to Anderson.

It is April 7 and the Township has not posted the agenda for tonites Trustees meeting. The Trustees should hold the Administrator responsible for posting the agenda on the Friday preceding scheduled meetings. Also why does it take a month to post the minutes for the prior months meetings? There is no reason that the minutes from the prior meeting cannot be approved at the next Trustees meeting. Grrr!!!!

The soon to be passed House Bill 289 will make future JEDZ issues very difficult to place on the ballot yet alone pass as an issue.

As Liberty Townshio struggles to find revenue the door will opened further for more Powell annexation of Liberty Township land with an inevitable increase in the Powell City Income Tax to 2 or 2.5%.

It will also become increasingly important for the Township trustees to remedy the EMS double taxation issue with Delaware County as future Fire EMS issues will be difficult to pass if the problem is not fixed, either by more money from the County or County EMS service for Liberty Township. Barb Lewis who is running for Stapleton's Commissioner seat is receptive to fixing the problem. Hopefully Merrill will get on board as we all know O'brien doesn't think their is a problem.

Well, I will agree that there is a revenue issue in Liberty Twp. It is run prudently, so there is not a lot of extra in the budget. That is how it should be.

As for double taxation, that is not a true statement. The County reimburses the township for EMS runs, so money is flowing back. You can make the argument that the reimbursement needs changed, and you would be right. But since there is reimbursement, the double taxation argument is a canard.

Get over it. Until the county changes it, there is little the trustees can do.
