You’ve certainly got a lot of nerve. Calling out “Delaware County taxpayers” to participate in the Ohio tax amnesty program is both stupid on your part and insulting. RE: Your Letter to the Editor Delaware Gazette on Tuesday, May 29th.
If someone is actually a “Delaware County taxpayer” then their taxes are paid and this Ohio tax amnesty program has no value or interest to them. Perhaps, you should call on Delaware County Tax Deadbeats to step up and pay their tax obligations… whatever they are. Generally, people who actually pay are payers while deadbeats ignore their bills and financial obligations and the payers end up picking up the tab for the deadbeats.
Your insult is that the government would excuse Tax Deadbeats and forego penalties and some interest charges. As a person who pays my taxes that angers and insults me since I chose to forego spending money on things I wanted to buy in order to fully pay my tax obligations when they were due. I got no break for paying up, in full, and on time so why should tax deadbeats who don’t pay get special treatment?
Perhaps you are unaware of the tax delinquency status of Delaware County when it comes to payroll taxes. Or the fact that Republican officeholders are frequently tax deadbeats.
Ohio Auditor Dave Yost had a judgment for unpaid Ohio income taxes filed against him in Delaware Common Pleas Court when he was serving as Delaware County Auditor.
Clerk of Courts Antonoplos has more than $300,000 in federal tax liens for unpaid income taxes filed against her (recorded in the Delaware County Recorder’s office).
State Representative Andrew Brenner, the president of Prestige Music Studios in Powell, has federal tax liens for more than $70,000 unpaid payroll taxes against that company recorded in the Delaware County Recorder’s office.
There’s no need for you to chastise and insult the taxpayers who pay their taxes by rubbing your tax amnesty deal for deadbeats in our faces. Go to a Delaware Republican Party meeting with your concerns over unpaid taxes. It looks like there’s almost a half a million dollars owed by your fellow Republican officeholders. And, why don’t your lazy bureaucrats make an effort to collect taxes other than giving deadbeats a free-ride at the taxpayers’ expense.
