Nope, live in Delaware. For some reason my internet provider (Verizon) picks up the nearest tower whenever I log on. My God, I hope the police are not monitoring this converstaion - probably not, I am sure they are working on redacting all thier reports from future Freedom of Information Requests. Count on it boys!

The officer should be terminated. He is a disgrace to the upstanding law enforcement officials of this state and I'm tired of seeing a few rotten apples bring all of them down.

NOT ALL COPS ARE CROOKED!

Hades... my own father in law gave me a speeding ticket once before he retired and then he ripped my @$$ over Sunday dinner because he caught me speeding. I can only imagine what he would have done if he'd ever gotten a call that me, my husband, or one of my brothers in law were driving drunk... I'd be afraid though.

They did clearly state that Leatherman was wrong to not follow protocol, and that he would be reprimanded. They were very clear about their position on what he did not do.
Not the point, it was not only Leatherman, it was the other partolman, the captain and the chief who looked the other way until the Delaware Gazette showed up and said what the heck! As for the Gazette, this was not the only time (this year) this has happened. Keep looking.

Respectfully disagree, he should not be terminated, suspended yes, but not terminated, along with his captain and chief. Rod Glazer did nothing wrong, but several others in the DPD did.

The investigation was a joke, took too long, with predictable results, why is Leatherman the ONLY one facing discipline?

I was not speaking of Officer Glazer, he was not the arresting officer. I was speaking of the Sgt. who decided not to sobriety test the girl just because her dad was a cop. ALthough... I do hope Mr. Glazer fulfills his role as a parent and tears into her for her actions.

I do not know what I fear more, the criminals in Marion, or the crooked cops in Delaware. Does anyone have the contact information for Sgt. Leatherman? Next time I am passing through Delaware and get stoped for something I would like him to respond.

I know Sgt Leatherman personally and dirtball is that last word I would use to describe him. He made a judgement call based on 25 years of highly decorated service and it is up to Chief Martin to make the decision on whether he was wrong or right.
Personally I feel safer going to bed at night knowing this man, this officer is on duty.
Anyone know if Chief Martin will EVER announce punishment for Leatherman.

"Protection" you must be a relative of a DPO or a "friend" of Sgt. Leatherman.

The dirty Chief is Mr. Martin. Why did it take so long to administer punishment? Think Leatherman will be working overtime at the Fair next week to make up for his "lost" wages. What a joke.
