Will they make him pay for the cost of the search? Or is that only non-bums that need to do that?

Also, did he have a cell phone? It isn't clear from the story. If so, how in the heck does he own a cell phone?

When they knew him why did they let him roam around free ? He should have been in a " Happy Camp", that means out in the woods of some state hospital. If they had no clue where to find him, or that he would pull such a prank how do they know he is no danger to the public ?

#1 Incredible 70...worry about who pays for things is a big issue with you isn't it? Shouldn't you worry a bit more about the fact that this guy (dangerous or not) is still out there?
#2 PP Reader...When law enforcement can put someone in "Happy Camp" simply for being "strange" we all will need to have worries. Unless he does something illeagal, arrest is probably not an option. Now that he has abused the 911 system, which is illeagal...they are looking for him.

He isn't dangerous, he is a grown child who wants attention. Let me guess at his situation:

1) Perfectly nice kid. Grew up down the street. Quiet, but didn't cause trouble. Bullied and picked on until:

2) Developed a mental illness, probably schizophrenia, at some point. Controlled well with meds, when he took them. Didn't stay disciplined to stay on them because public services weren't adequate. All the stress made him:

3) Started boozing when society turned his back on him. Quit taking his meds. Ended up homeless because of poor society support. Can't keep a job because he won't take his meds or quit the vices. Now he:

4) Goes in and out of rehab and mental health hospitals. Cleans up, but goes right back to the drugs and booze when he gets out. All societies fault...they don't accept him.

What I asked here, and on another thread, was...will he be held accountable for the resources being used for his little game? If I called it in and said I did it, you know dang well I would get a bill, along with about 10 charges. Will he?

Although Blue Earth County should charge restitution for man hours, etc...the county officials probably believe it would be like getting blood from a stone. Since this man is homeless, the people of Blue Earth County will be paying for him from now on, that is assuming he is caught and institutionalized, at St. Peter, most likely.

Sounds like a good candidate to clean highways or paint over graffiti until his debt is paid.

Yes, why aren't we doing that? I've heard it explained that the supervision would be expensive.

Same for welfare. There are many things people could do to improve the town to earn their welfare checks.

And it would be a good way for the county and town to conserve resources.

At present I believe such things may violate union laws.

Didn't sound like that big a deal until he said he scoped a rifle and would shoot deputies. Thats when they should have scoped their own rifles.

You're right, they should make them clean your toilets, and get groceries for you. How about drive your kids to soccer practice, and go to the liquor store?

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Scorpio

Let the past stay in the past for now. Even though you may have fond memories of intense experiences, the Virgo Moon sees to it that you have virtually no desire to go there again just yet. This is your opportunity to show others what you can do in a more civilised environment. Don't try to shout down someone who is rude enough to interrupt. As unlikely as it may seem, the softest voice has the biggest chance of being heard today.
