I was a busgirl, and then a waitress at Jake's on North Avenue, while in high school and college. I must have eaten 100 pounds of onion rings in those years. LOL

We used to live in Brookfield and would celebrate hubby and daughter's birthdays at Jakes's and we always ordered Pepper Steak Since we no longer live in the area I'm trying to find a recipe to recreate it for them this next week. Is this recipe available? I don't see it currently on your menu.

So is there still a Jakes at 54th and North or what - we will be visiting Milwaukee and would like make this a part of our walk down memory lane - we used to eat there regularly back in 63 -64 and 65. Loved the steaks and onion rings - really affordable back then - and the bar made the best sweet, southern comfort, old fashioned. can't handle that anymore but it sure was good back then - egl
