IF you seearch on the IRS website, A Pet's Wish is not non profit 501c3. They are lying. Who can trust an organization that lies about their IRS status?

I checked out that IRS website too and didn't find A Pets Wish on it. I hope that all you people that are sending them donations don't get audited by the IRS. Why not send your money instead to Friends of Del Rio Animls who we know is a 501c3 to help them with their Spay Neuter Clinics and their spaying and neutering of feral cats.

How is all this going to affect their relationship with the city?

They don't have a very good relationship with the city to begin with. From what I understand they are making enemies in some of the former fosters they had in the past. Pretty soon, they aren't going to have anyone to foster for them. THEY NEED PEOPLE SKILLS!!!!

Why would the city want to work with an organization that has been presenting themselves as a 501c3 when they are not! Obviously FDRA has a working relationship with the city since Ms. Garcia was able to get Bailey released for AC.

Oh please. Anne Garcia wasn't "the one" who got the dog released. Multiple people called the mayor and Robert Eads to ask them to do something. Anne was just the one who took credit for it. And if FDRA and Anne Garcia are able to get so much done because of her "connections" why is there no humane society or proper shelter here? They were supposed to have one built several years ago but the city wouldn't work with them and FDRA is so disorganized they fell apart. Why has Anne not even been inside animal control in years until the incident with Bailey? Because FDRA is non functioning other than a spay and neuter clinic with VERY few spots. And I can't remember the last feral cat that was in their program, at least 2 years ago.

That's not what they have been telling people. Even their site states that THEY are a 501C3. Sorry, but youve lied to many people including the City and citizens of Del Rio.

The reason that there is no Humane Society or a "Proper Shelter" is due to the fact this city/county can not support a private one. It costs on the average a minimum of $10,000 a month to keep a small shelter holding approximately 24 dogs and 20 cats. Unless you have some huge benefactors, which aren't here in Del Rio, there is no way one would by able to make it in this economy. You don't just get a building, turn on the utilites and bring in the animals. The building (whether existing or new construction)have to be approved by the state Health Department and meet all the regulations required to maintain the health and wellbeing of the humans working there, the vistors and the animals.

And for your information, the City does have an agreement with Friends of Del Rio Animals. It was enacted 3 years ago that when the City's new facility was complete, Friends will have office space in their building. Kind of redundant to build two facilities!

You say that Friends of Del Rio Animals is non-functioning. How many schools, organizations, child care facilities, etc. do they give educational programs to, including working with 4H children? You say they have very few spots in the spay neuter clinics. Do you realize the work that is put into their clinics. Sixty spay/neuter surgeries in two days is probably what our vet clinics average in one month. You are clueless.

And the Trap Neuter Release of feral cats has been on going for over 4 years with both Dr. Martin and Dr. Rathke being involved in that program. Which by the way is totally free to the public! If you are so knowledgeable about their programs, then you already know that they getting grant money to fund the Trap Neuter Release, as they do also for the spay neuter clinics which subsidize the owners cost to reduce it to $10 -$40 per per pet versus $130 and up at the vet?????

And, if A Pets Wish is a 501c3, why haven't they applied for any grants to assist them?

You are the idiot. The "bigger organization" they are registered under out of Houston is a Food Pantry for people. That in 501c3 terminology....must be of a "like" organization to be under their umbrella. A food pantry falls under "HUMAN WELFARE" and an animal rescue falls under "ANIMAL WELFARE". If you are so knowledgeable on the regulations why haven't you figured that one out. Or better yet call the IRS and ask that questions! Another regulation that is both federal and state: a 501c3 must have at least a President and a Treasurer and file their article of incorporation with the Secretary of State. A Pets Wish has a Director/owner (can't be an owner of a 501c3), a Medical Officer and a Public Relations Officer. Check the regulations before you stick your foot in your mouth again! Oh....just for the record, I've worked for 501(c)3 organizations in the State of Texas for over 15 years.

Just accept is..... A Pets Wish is trying to do a good thing but their priorities are all wrong! Quit lying for one thing and maybe they would have more supporters. Did y'all know that they pick an choose what animals they want to save? If they were TRUELY in it for animals welfare it would not matter what breed of animal was injured. They would all be treated the same.

I think the "problem" is that this group filed criminal charges against numerous people at the Animal Control with the intent oj seeing someone go to jail. If APW/Lynne want to try to send someone to jail, then any lying goes against their credibility.

Are you kidding me? They pick and choose? They save as many animals as possible but you know what? They can't save all of them or they'd end up full of animals no one will adopt then what good will that do? All their resources would be spent housing the same adoptable animals and they wouldn't be able to save any more. ALL independent rescues like APW have to choose which animals they can and can't take. Sad, but you can't save every pit bull or mutt because most people don't want those.
