I get pissed off every time I go by the empty Magnavox buildings. 3,000+ jobs lost to Mexico including my dads, a union electrical engineer. Everything we bought came from there. Now I wouldn't touch their brands. Personal boycott.

I think the area on Main St, just off by-pass before you get to the Sandwich Shop, has got to be the WORST! Some of those little houses could be really cute if they were just cleaned up & painted. Then, once you get into business areas, whether on by-pass, Tusculum Blvd or downtown, there is a "vast array of nothingness"! It really is a shame that so many industries have left, there are few opportunities, rampant unemployment. People turn to drugs & stealing to support their habit in an area which is kind of hopeless. It becomes a vicious cycle of business not locating here or if something new opens the locals won't support it because if no money, taking their business to surrounding areas. Wow, I'm depressed now! Lol

Politicians not seeking ways to involve entrepreneurs who do things the responsible way-not like the partnership did the shove it way with Walmart project &nitrogen project. Politicians not reaching out to owners to support their getting gov support to upgrade their property-west main property near Crescent is deterioting from property to property on both sides.the bypass is growing into a hwy of stuff left behind for pilferers. Property outside city limits looks better. Watch for a letter to the editor

While it is true that the North American Free Trade Agreement was passed thru Congress during Clinton's administration,( with overwhelming support by both Democrats & Republicans ) the original treaty was signed by George Bush I.

This county has been Republican for far too long. They stand for the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. It's been like that for so long here, the middle man is disappearing and the poor is unable to survive.

But keep on voting for that coveted 1%... you'll soon see the 1% can not exist without the support of the 99%. Unfortunately, you all can't seem to see the consequences of your actions/votes until it is too late.

Greeneville is a dead town. Buildings are vacant and rotting, houses are too. They build things here then it stays empty for a little while then, it closes and stays empty for ever, then it runs down. I don't get it, Greeneville is dead.

Initially some Philips' jobs were lost to Mexico but ultimately the jobs were lost to China. Don't forget that Fiver Rivers filed a legal complaint against China dumping sets here and won. The problem was the US had no way / manpower of keeping up with the Chinese dumping sets here. And oh by the way, Wal Mart sided with China in that lawsuit.

Going back to NAFTA, when the vote was taken on NAFTA in the US Senate - one Republican senator from Tennessee voted for it and the other Republican senator from Tennessee votes against it.

Will our property taxes bring money in to get someone to pay attention to our right of way maintenance?
