Does this affect Jefferson County at all? We're right on the Denver/Jeffco border.

Tornadoes can be devastating in colorado. In any fashion, houses can be efficiently moved or flattened in a tornado.

Man I don't get it, everyone came to KFC while the sirens were going off to get some chicken, and I never got to go look outside. And I'm a total nut for these storms. >=(

Tornadoes in CO are rather rare this close to the mountains, and the ones that do show up this close are of the milder variety. Also, tornadoes only affect their immediate area - it's not like a hailstorm.

But should you have the misfortune to have a tornado strike your house or nearby (a few houses to a few blocks away depending on its size), then yeah, you're screwed. Even the weak ones will take a house down.

Yeah, tornadoes near the foothills are rare, and weak. I do remember years ago when I was a kid, watching footage of a tornado right in the foothills. That was a rare event. The tornado looked like an F-2 or F-3, it didn't last long if I can remember correctly. I live on the eastern border of Aurora, so our chances are a bit higher for twisters. Every time that siren goes off, I'm out side watching the clouds, well except for earlier, was too busy serving chicken to people.=P
I live in a condo that only has a crawl space, so my fears are kinda up there in regards to tornadoes, and we have a siren RIGHT next to us. I guess my plan would be to hide in a man hole we have outside in the parking lot, depending on the rain, I wouldn't want to drown, but it's better then hiding in a crawlspace. heheh. I never did like living in a one story place with no basement, so you have my well wishes Charles.

I do wish more information was given out last night as to exactly what was going on with this funnel cloud. I feel like I was dished out just a portion of what could have been reported. Also, Aurora needs to get their tornado system worked out. They have their system all linked together, so a funnel cloud or tornado could be spotted way up in northeast Aurora and the sirens are going off way over in southwest Aurora/Centennial. Then they used to be very clear about the warning, a voice coming over the speaker and then the all-clear siren. They never did give the all-clear last night.

I have a feeling we're in for a bumpy spring/summer this year. The weather this year reminds me of a season years ago when we spent a good number of days in our basement.

They never gave the all-clear sirens in our area, just east of Cherry Creek Dam. The sirens sounded twice, but the second time was not an all-clear siren. And I have no idea what happened to the verbal instructions. I worked for the city of Aurora for years in this department and know that it's been pretty screwed up for awhile. As for why the alarm sounded all over Aurora, it is all on one system. Aurora has grown so much, last I heard they are planning to section it off, but I don't know when.

I don't know about your area but they have not sounded an all clear here (Morgan county) in years. I have been told it's because they don't really know if it is clear and they don't like the liability. But, thats just what I have been told it could be for another reason.
