David Formas was a great guard who anchored the left side on offense. 79 Greatest LP team ever.

One you've all failed to mention...Todd Schoppe. On those great LP teams. Recruited as a blue chip. Played 5 years at UH, graduated magna cum laude(rare for a D1 football player in the 80's) worked in several districts around the area, successful at them all. Currently LPHS Principal. May not have made it in the NFL, may not be able to give $$$ back to his school, but I've watch this young man do his community proud day in and day out.

Todd(tenesee toddy all legs and no body)Shoppe was a great football player at LaPorte. That answered the original question. The other stuff is off topic, but spells out what a good man he is and a great alumni. He was great to play alongside.

Todd Shoppe is one ideal candidate to promote from within for superintendent. Enough of this system where the Board uses a search team to select candidates.

Bubba was a friend of mine and his SR. when he rushed for over 2000 yards was probably the greatest performance ever by a La Porte football player. That same year he rushed for over 300 yards against Stratford. There is a man named David Formas that has the Game films for that year. He is the class of 1978 I think and Ricky knows who he is and Formas is on Facebook. I really liked Bubba he was a good man and he died way too young. I went to school with him from 7 -12th and played football , basketball and track with him. Ricky and Barrion were friends of mine too. Good luck .

My sophomore year the Bayshore Sun made sure me and a couple of others were alienated from the rest of the entire team. I was also a mixed up kid filled with self hatred and shyness covered up by drug use and rebellion. So like I say, you don't know what you are talking about.

It would probably be watching the two boys that grew up in my house graduate from highschool and my having done more than my share financially for children I didn't father. For never ducking out on those kids and always being there except when I had to work out of town and then I sent money home. There is nothing like that, and that will always be the pinnacle of my life.

You should work for the Republican Party the way you spun that. The Newspaper never liberated me and my my friends, quite the opposite, that is why the rest of our older team mates had a problem. I didn't move to California til I was around twenty-five and straight. Sometimes we don't make the best decisions when we are teenagers, I know I didn't. It took me a while to grow up. Hell, I was stupid enough to vote for Reagan twice.

Please tell us how the Bayshore Sun, a paper with little to no "news", impacted your life so negatively? What was the basis for this article and what role did you play, if any, in the event covered.
