No wonder the DPISD Board of Trustees hasn't changed in 8 years, there's no interest in making a difference, just comdemning, complaining and criticizing.

Wrong. The Mayor will put their election day the same day as the General Election. May 11th. That's if City Council approves it. He will try and I am sure it will pass this Tuesday at the Council Meeting. Look at the agenda online.

He will be trying for as much support as he can draw up for his Alias.

The DPISD website shows the election being May 11, 2013. The question is on Tuesday's agenda:

13. Consideration of and action on an agreement with Deer Park ISD to provide a polling location
for a General Election of Board of Trustees on May 11, 2013.

The city and the school district are two different entities. Let them hold their election at the administration building. It is a no-brainer.

If council decides to let the district hold their election at the same polling place, The Community Center,(my crystal ball tells me that is what is being discussed behind closed doors, wink wink..) which is where our City Council election will be held, same day, I would say that would be a conflict of interest. Hmmmm, who is running for a seat that has close ties, good friends, and former financial supporters of some of the Board of Trustees and would benefit from having both elections held at the exact same place. Unfair and dirty politics; smart, but not cool. To be fair, let DPISD hold their election in their own, fantastic, expensive backyard, at the administration building. I will be disappointed in any of our current councilmembers if they choose to hold both of the elections at The Community Center May 11th.

Dare I ask, but please do the right thing.

School elections should be held on school property and city elections should be held on city property.

DPISD recently held their bond election and it was at their administration building! Why would they want to have an election now on CITY PROPERTY during a city election if they didn't have an agenda that would help them by doing so?

Absolutely correct, Bill. I plan on sending each council member a memo for Tuesday night, so that they can read it before their meeting begins. No need to sign up and speak, been there, done that. I would suggest others do the same. You can email it or drop it off at City Hall to City Manager's Secretary and she will place it at their seats before meeting. I've done it before in the past. This is a very important election and there needn't be any funny business going on. City Election @ Community Ctr. and Board of Trustee election at Administration Bldg!!!!!! Again, I will never again support any of our current council if they don't do the right thing.

A neutral observer would think that it only makes sense to allow voters the convenience of voting in one place.

Why you ask? Well, they might be required by state law to conduct their election at a common polling location. That's why.

Upon doing some research, I discovered some DPISD elections have been held @ Community Center. I don't agree with it though. It is my strong opinion that it should be held on school property. But what do I know other than I'm entitled to my own opinion.

I agree with you. City elections should be on city property, school elections should be on school district soil. But our Texas legislature doesn't agree. I guess they have their reasons...maybe they think it saves money or is more convenient for voters who don't have their own transportation or something like that.

I don't think the location is that big of a deal. It does save money and you will get larger turnout of voters. Of course, if you're just trying to get elected the fewer the voters, the fewer needed to get elected. So, getting elected by a few is better than by many; again not a representative government, but your cronies.

Seems the focus should be issues, taxes, and the security of our town, schools from federal incroachment.

The candidate that can rally the citizens, educate them on the issues, engage them in the greatest priviledge of citizenship-voting-is the one worthy of being elected.

Yep, I've been amazed at the long lines at the polls with all those educated citizens rallying around their candidate.
