City employees were "promised" a 2:1 match when hired. All of the surrounding cities also offer this. It's an incentive to keep the employees that they hire. It's also obvious who you will be voting for. Hopefully you will forget to vote!!!
Yep he forgot last time.

Did you just call Jerry Mouton an "extreme liberal"? Do you know anything about the guy? Apparently not, because that's so far from the truth it's absolutely comical. If you really want to know Jerry, and not just make up nonsense about him out of the thin air, go to one of his Saturday morning get togethers. You will find that he is one of the most down to earth, genuine, honest people you'll ever meet... and he has a terrific sense of humor. Some of ya'll are just DRAMA.
I've seen what his agenda is about and believe me the only way to put it is extreme liberal. I've also attended some Rotary meetings and sat some what close to him and heard his vision comments. Without a doubt he is what I've called him, at least that is my opinion. Many people have the same concerns. Perhaps you are just as liberal and that is why you can't see him as an extreme liberal.

No, it's because I actually know him personally and know there is not an ounce of liberalsm in his body. I know this not from eavesdropping at a community luncheon, but from having honest-to-gooness discussions with him. Recognizing that a cty need to invest in infrastructure does not make an individual a lieral. TOO FUNNY!!!

First check you spelling.
What city infrastructure r u talking about? Perhaps we r talking about the same agenda but far different views of what real infrastructure should be.

What about Jerry's quality of life agenda? When u r among a group of liberals one does not have to ease drop, they are to loud in their boasting as to what they want to do should they get elected.

Food for thought.... Ran into a couple today that said they received a flyer at their door from Jeff Pound that stated, Sorry I missed you and asked for their vote and it had his cell # if they had any questions. Received a mailer from Jerry Mouton stating where he would be and encouraged people to come to him and meet him. They also stated it was a total turn off that the current Mayor was endorsing him and viewed it as he was a hand picked candidate. So we have one that personally visited, seeking their support, and another that wants us to come seek him out.... Hmmmmm.. One visits door to door to visit and another gives locations to seek him out for a visit. Quite comical. The proof is in the pudding. Vote for Mr. Pound. Not hand picked, and interesting the Mayor supported Mr. Pound when he ran against Mr. Lawther, but not now? Only my opinion and a lot of others. I think they are shooting their selves in the foot on this one....

I haven't heard from anyone except for one postcrd from Mr Mouton I recieved yesterday. I've googled them and hunted for websites but haven't found out enough to know who I would vote for. I did notice Mouton has personal facebook and "for Mayor" sights. If the other candidates dont' get with it he's going to win on name recognition alone.

Go on FB and search Jeff Pound. You will find his FB page and his stance. Do your research Steph and come to your own conclusion. Just vote, no matter who you end up supporting.

If you would like to meet Jeff and hear why he is running, he'd be glad to visit with you. Not all candidates have the $ to do mailers as it is very expensive. Email me your address, if you want, and he will come to you. sdjstokes@att.com

Why is an endorsement from a mayor who consistently wins multiple popular elections considered to be a negative?

Does the Deer Park forum ever back a winner?

What, a proclaimed non voter of the lesser of the evils telling others to make a choice and vote regardless! IMO, many that can vote in Deer Park never use Facebook so some other means needs to be addressed to inform the people.

Many that can vote in Deer Park never attend a City Council meeting either and have no idea as to what is going on. If voters wanted to know candidates, especially those who have served, then they should attend some of the workshops, budget meetings, and council meetings. Then perhaps they would be better informed, especially if they ask questions and or use the city open records option to be better informed instead of being being told by the many non-informed individuals who also do not attend the above meetings. I call it the pied piper (a person who entices others to follow him ) leader who likely does little research themselves and rely on a higher up pied piper. Is Mayor Riddle the king piper?

Are you saying that to informed, all one has to do is attend meeting held by those that are in office and not hear from those who do not hold elected positions.

A gardener and a wrecker driver are about to have a gunfight, a mortician steps in and says “I can fix you both up”….
I cant think of two people I distrust more to run our city than Mouton and Cernocek.
While I’m not a big fan of Pound either, he seems more credible.
Cernocek is of the same caliber as all the new businesses in and surrounding Deer Park… pawnshop after pawn shop and drug related businesses is not what I wanted near our home.
Mouton is yet another Rotary/Chamber of Commerce self-important “let me pose for the news cameras” politician. One friend told me a few years back “if you want Mouton’s participation, tell him it’s going to be in the news”
The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce and Deer Park Rotary (same people) have an agenda… They serve Shell. The residents of Deer Park don’t really matter as long as (it looks like) new business is coming to town.
When I grew up we always heard about the crooked cities up north….. I guess the north has moved south.
