You need to get a copy of the Deer Park Final Report that the Rotary had at one time. I looked up several of the community opportunity centers that it listed and I remember that it was very expensive.
Perhaps Mr. Mouton can produce a printed copy of that report... or even put it on line so the citizens can be better informed as to what his intentions are. I also remember a number of our city leaders were at the meeting where it was presented, Mr. Patterson was there as I remember, perhaps he can inform you as well.
Looking back I believe Mr. Boles and Mr. Mouton were the lead promoters of the program.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE INPUT
On February 23, Avalanche’s team of consultants visited Deer Park to meet with community leaders
about the proposed citizen center and to tour the city.
The following individuals were in attendance at the Advisory Committee meeting:
• Jose David, Deer Park ISD
• Sherri Dial, Deer Park ISD
• Jerry Mouton, Business Owner, Deer Park Rotary Club, Deer Park Chamber of Commerce, and
Education Foundation
• Gary Jackson, Interim City Manager, City of Deer Park
• Bobby Vasquez, InsideDP.com
• Ken Donnell, Trustee – Deer Park ISD, Deer Park Rotary Club
• Arnold Adair, Superintendent, Deer Park ISD
• Bob Horton, Pastor

Note the attendance members from DPISD and now the city is looking at leasing or perhaps buying the old San Jacinto Elementary building. Folks, you better strap on your high water waders, its going to get real deep in BS. Remember the con about the golf course and what it turned out to be!

Also note: Mr. Boles is listed and he is running for position #1. So combined with Mr. Mouton, should they get elected, you will surely, IMO, see a community center push & cost that will surpass the Battleground Golf Course in costs to the taxpayers.

So here is a scenario:
Boles gets elected
Mouton gets elected
Council woman Cobb is already committed, IMO, for a community center
Councilman Patterson has endorsed Mr. Mouton for Mayor
So now you have what I would consider a majority vote for a community center.

Remember the city of Deer Park participated in paying for the previously mentioned report along with the Rotary. You have the DPISD committed as well, perhaps just so they can gain the lease or sale of SJE, who knows?

With the above scenario the taxpayers are in serious trouble and they need to have a massive voter turn out to make sure that Mr. Mouton is not elected and that Mr. Boles is not elected. Just my opinion for a better Deer Park and one that is more represented of all citizens, not just the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary club, and DPISD.

I just looked up another community center that was listed in the above mentioned report and their expenses ending August 31, 2011 was $4,292,728.00

They postponed the SJE project along with the Street Maintenance Tax till after the election. The Bill and Beckie Show will no longer exist if Pound or Cernosek get elected as Mayor. Stop the dam spending for crying out loud. Stop increasing my taxes I have to pay.

That sounds good, but Boles needs to be looking from the outside as well and not sitting in Position #1. Postponing the SJE and Street maintenance tax needs to be buried and never again to be seen. This election is the most important one we'll see in many years to come.

As Dr. Ben Carson recently said "we continue to spend ourselves into oblivion", its time for our city council to represent the majority and not the select few and their pet projects. Only a massive voter turn out in May will cease the crazy spending that has been going.

Do you know that twice as many incorporated cities in Texas selected property tax relief (PT) over street maintenance taxes (SMR)? So if the city council represented the majority of property owners they would be seeking a property tax relief and not an SMR. HMM i wonder why the majority of council is not really representing the majority of citizens, certainly term limits should be initiated should be on a ballot!

Do you remember what the city manger stated would be needed in the property tax rate to keep up with their spending?

Damn. Finally something that we agree on. Outside of the golf course which is nothing more than a money pit, there isn't much else attractive about Deer Park. Even a retention pond and paddle boats in Deer Park would be like putting ear rings on a pig.

If Mouton gets elected, with Bill and Beckie, it will be a fare comparison. He is forecasting the future. What say you POO

Saw some Boles signs today. Hard to distinguish from Moutons. Good teamwork. Especially when they were in the same yards. Has Jimmy Burke signature on it.

I didn't present the program where those community centers were used, that was Mr. Mouton, Mr. Boles and the Chamber of Commerce. If you think for a minute that those that presented the program wouldn't desite to put such in place then I have a bridge to sell you and it isn't located at the Battleground.

<quoted text>Why should you get more than most private sector companies offer their employees. I certainly don't support "Mr. Moutin," but I don't think a 2:1 match for city employees is fair to the taxpayers. If you need more going into your 401K, then contribute more of your paycheck.
City employees were "promised" a 2:1 match when hired. All of the surrounding cities also offer this. It's an incentive to keep the employees that they hire. It's also obvious who you will be voting for. Hopefully you will forget to vote!!!

Yes they do, but some cities forced a mandatory day off without pay would you prefer that instead?

It was a program that was placed long ago and most things change over the years. They can't keep cranking out more of their favorite projects without money so they take what they need else where. Their projects or your benefits, now you know the real Mouton, might say an extreme liberal. If you are concerned, you should be, so get voters out who will vote against Mouton. OUT mOUTon

Did you just call Jerry Mouton an "extreme liberal"? Do you know anything about the guy? Apparently not, because that's so far from the truth it's absolutely comical. If you really want to know Jerry, and not just make up nonsense about him out of the thin air, go to one of his Saturday morning get togethers. You will find that he is one of the most down to earth, genuine, honest people you'll ever meet... and he has a terrific sense of humor. Some of ya'll are just DRAMA.
