So did they have a committee for fire hydrants that decided this or was it up to the schools to step into city decisions? Oh, I forgot mayor Mutin has direct communication with the school officials so it was probably a joint decision. Where was Tim and his input?

Why does every reply on this Topix thing have to be negative or political in nature? The original post had nothing to do with Poltics.

I happen to like the new fire hydrants. The existing yellow ones show dirt and grime too easily. A darker color will just looks cleaner. From what I understand they have to be color coded as green and yellow which lets the fire department know the line size. Maybe maroon and gold could serve as the "yellow" and maroon and green, although weird would look better than the dirty yellow and green

Try looking for a dark colored hydrant in the middle of the night? You can pretend maroon is any color you want, one thing that wont change is you can't spot dark hydrants as easily as the ugly yellow and orange ones in the middle of the night. I do believe the city owns pressure washers if dirty is a concern!

I personally liked the new color hydrants. I think it brings some town spirit throughout. Not sure all the safety reasons of why it's not allowed, but switch the colors around on the hydrant if needed and paint the majority of it gold with maroon caps if that's allowed. Just a thought...
