Well, let's look at the definition of terrorism. The definition of terrorism is a group that uses violence or the threat of violence for political ends.[W]hoever the terrorists are here, it's not us. But we see constant threats from people in the Re -- you know, Republicans in the Senate trying to make a -- a name for themselves, the people like Sarah Palin, top shock jocks on Fox and, unfortunately, some members, also, of the Democratic Party, calling for my assassination, calling for the illegal kidnapping of my staff. And -- and just a few days ago, it was in Fox, that was the phrase that was used -- illegal. He should be illegally murdered if necessary-- assassinated by the law, if possible, if not, illegally. What sort of message does that send about the rule of law in the United States? That is conducting violence in order to achieve a political end -- the elimination of this organization or the threat of violence to achieve a political end, the elimination of a publisher. And that is the definition of terrorism.

Well, threats, intimidation, murder and smear campaigns are to be expected when dealing with the U.S. Government and the rattle snakes that actually
run it. Look what happened to JFK and MLK.

Idle threats, intimidation and smear campaigns do little.
Assange needs to join JFK and MLK. Send in the snakes.

We shouldn't be allowed to know about the duplicity and double-dealing of our government.

It tends to make people less patriotic, less willing to kill and be killed for the freedom of American corporations.

Well I really hate to admit it, but the socialist troll just may have a point for a change.(No, we will never be friends, toilet scrubber)

Knowing what I do now and I was 17 all over again, I doubt if I
would ever enlist in the Marine Corps again to go fight in Viet Nam or
anywhere else for that matter. This country has has been taken over by a
bunch of liars, assholes and hypocrites. It damned sure isn't the United
States that I grew up in.

You grew up in a country that discriminated against people for all kinds of reasons, allowed old people to live in poverty without adequate health care, and drafted young men to fight in an illegal and immoral war against their will.

Even though hundreds of soldiers were killed every week for reasons that couldn't be explained with a straight face, more than half the population supported the war.

America is not good or evil, it's just powerful. And powerful interests intend to keep their power. It's instructive to note that all the fiscal conservatives concerned about deficits and debt never even whisper a suggestion that the obscenely bloated defense budget be reined in.

No, the real problem with the deficit is not unfunded wars, but health insurance for the lazy unemployed, welfare Negroes, and illegal aliens stealing from the taxpayer.

As long as it's in the corporate interest to pollute the environment, conduct unending warfare, and increase the wealth of the ruling class, that's what we will support also. If you forget who it is exactly you should hate, Fox News will remind you.

There is so much here. Please take the time, if you have it, to watch. The key questions:

Are you a member of the press?(1:00) He's a journalist; has been for years. Other more timid journalists think they can keep themselves safe by "selling us out" and saying "we're not journalists." They won't be safe; "they're going to be next."

What's your answer to the "high-tech terrorist" charge?(7:15) He talks about the definition of "terrorism" and contrasts what he does with calls for his assassination in high circles of the Republican party, and some parts of the Democratic party. He feels some of these critics are guilty of "incitement to commit murder" and should be charged.(11:00)

Is Bradley Manning being mistreated?(11:20) Assange doesn't know if Manning is the source; their technology is set up to protect source identities. But if the allegations are true, Manning "acted for political reasons" and is therefore "a political prisoner, without trial, in the United States." Assange feels this should be investigated.

Judith Miller, who printed every lie from Dick Cheney's office about Iraq's WMD's in the NYTimes which led us to the Iraq war, just criticized Julian Assange on Fox NEWS for not verifying his sources.

There's not a single post on this thread that is even very critical of Assange. Who's screaming for the USA to punish him?

Can someone explain Reddawn anger toward wikileaks to me. Don't we, as a society, want to know what our government is doing on our behalf? Isn't governmental transparency essential to a functioning democracy?
