I've known for a long time that Dawn Wilson had embezzeled a lot of money from the DPFCU. I'm amazed at how people who like her and her husband were able to alienate and actually punish people who were involved in discovering the embezzeling. Now I'm amazed at how little press coverage there is about this. Mr. Paul,(husband) had to know about the money because he was enjoying the fruits of his wife's labors. The children also benifitted with nice cars and luxury trips and name brand clothing. Right is right and wrong is wrong no matter how much we like the wrongdoers.
How the hell do u know so much about all this. I know Paul and the kids did not know about this. They were taking trips and all the other things u mentioned before all this happened.

Just let me say to all of you people who are judging Dawne: It is terrible that is true but at some time in all of our lives we have done something we are not proud of (maybe not to this extent) but sweep your own door steps off before u start throwing stones at somebody else.
You assume far too much; don't use your past to judge what others have done or not done. So how do you measure extent? May I remind you that a felony one charge exceeds a norm no matter how you meassure it. Excess of $200,000.00 is not your common mistake in judgement, even for those who may have wondered over the line. And apparently by a previous post was known by many to have been going on while keeping quiet?

Having been in law enforcement I find it impossible to believe that the husband did not know about this. Perhaps it might come out sooner or later. Generally its hard for a spouse to take all of the heat if the other had previous knowledge, time will tell.

I thought this topic sounded familiar. The first posts appeared in Feb 2011. That tells me that that questions were being asked before it hit Topix. As Nota Thief said investigating takes a long time. If federal credit union then the feds were involved.

Brandi did not know. She doesn't even speak to her mother because of this.

None of her kids knew. They don't know her funds. Her youngest and oldest daughter both worked there. If anything her oldest daughter would be the one who knew.

Blah Blah Blah, I challenge you to post your name here and justify your description of Brandi. I can tell you first hand that her head is far from up her ass. She actually leads a great life, and without airing family business all over the internet, she definitely doesn't refrain from speaking to her mother because of a concern about reputation. So post your name and quit being a coward.

Itís laughable that everyone here is willing to condemn the whole family based on the alleged acts of one member of the family. I find it absurd that no one here will utilize their real name, but will make comments under pseudonyms.

We must withhold out judgment of the accused. We must realize that the accused is innocent until he/she enters a plea of guilty or is found guilty of the crimes as charged by a jury of their peers based up on the facts as presented to the court. This is critical. For good or bad this is fundamental to our system of government and the foundation of our country. No other family member has been charged or accused by the investigating authorities, and until they are accused or charged Ė we must assume that they are innocent.

For those questioning how the rest of the family did not know Ė itís simple Ė Dawne didnít tell them what was going own. Most of the money was deposited in the one arm change machines in Louisiana and Vegas. You then claim non-existent winnings when questioned about the unusual source of extra income. For those on the outside Ė given that Paul had a decent wage job as a City Director, mowed lawns as a side job, and the fact that Dawne worked as the Credit Union manager, and at times a 2nd job, their lifestyle was justifiable.

This series of events has come as a total shock to the kids. Quit blaming them and the rest of the family based on the acts of one individual. I challenge everyone to post under their real name. If you donít have anything constructive to provide to the conversation, donít say it. Attacking an individual online through a forum is a sure sign of weakness and insecurity.

Austin - Thankyou for serving your country. Words and actions can not express gratitude for what you do for us.

Sure thing. It's a shame what lives some people lead, that they could come on a public forum (anonymously nonetheless), and discuss matters and make accusations about things they have no business commenting on. Not a whole lot of people have gotten to find out details about what is going on with this, but I can assure you that it has had DIRECT impact on both Brandi and myself, along with the rest of her family (including both of her siblings). Nobody denies that they had a great upbringing, with trips and nice things. But each one of them are working diligently to overcome the hardships that have been placed on each of them regarding this situation. Again, I'm not going to be airing any personal laundry for the family, as I'm sure useless local chat forums will do the sludge throwing without any justification. I can assure you that Brandi was 100% unaware of any wrongdoing that may have occurred at the CU, and the suggestion that she should be arrested simply because her mother was charged with a crime that took place in the same bank she worked at is baseless and solves no problems. So please, if you want to be taken seriously when flaming someone across an internet forum, post your name and quit being a coward. If you can't say it to anyone's face, than perhaps you need some self evaluation.

George - You're welcome. Myself and all of my brothers and sisters at arms here in Afghanistan are grateful of all the support we receive. Only a few more DAYS and I'll be out of this God forsaken country.

"discuss matters and make accusations about things they have no business commenting on."

So if I had money in the CU you say I have no business commenting on the theft of my money? Bull crap!

"Most of the money was deposited in the one arm change machines in Louisiana and Vegas."

How many trips do you take and not figure out how are we paying for this? Get a clue, Vegas is not a winners circle. One does not make frequent trips for gambling and come out winners. Normally people who do this deposit lots of their, or in this cases others money, at the gambling talbes/machines.

Just like Naders actions, many knew but never said anyting and then the bubble burst and people claimed they didn't know. More bull crap. I work in the city and it was rumored around so you need a reality check.

Paul mowed yards too, I wonder if that was reproted on his imcome. Maybe they need to check that out as well.

Bravo George & Austin... you put your names out on this anonymous forum. However, it IS an anonymous forum, which allows anyone/everyone to voice their opinions (right or wrong) anonymously.

Now, this topic might be compared to the many others, such as the Nader accusations or even the community center janitor. There may be some truth behind the speculations, while others judge the accused based on their opinions (or the way the look or act). Yes, gossip-mongering is prevalent on the forum... but it's nothing new and this just allows those another fence to lean on, while passing on the rumors they heard and adding their own speculations. OH, but what if it's true? It doesn't matter, it gives them something to talk about.

In any event, you might want to draft your responses a little more carefully. Otherwise, you may only be proving the case against the accused, while you proclaim them to be innocent until proven guilty.

It might be noted that first you proclaim that only a jury can determine their innocence or guilt. Then you turn around and proclaim that the husband and/or daughter had no knowledge of what she was doing and most of the money was being used to gamble.

Sounds like you just provided testimony to show the guilt of the accused, that you proclaimed to be innocent until proven guilty. hmmm... perhaps you should not attempt to join such discussions and leave it to the defense lawyers to argue the case. Since you decided to use your name, now you might be called to testify by the prosecution attorneys.

Now, to proclaim that someone is innocent until proven guilty, when the facts are obvious, is also a bit silly.

Whether the daughter knew what was going on or an accomplice in the matter may be elusive and speculative diatribe. However, it is not an unreasonable question regarding the husband's knowledge... is he really that clueless, that he wouldn't notice the losses from such gambling and other extravagant expenses to have little to no effect on their bank account? Would he not question where the money was coming from? Will he claim that his wife takes care of all money matters and he never sees the bank statements (and she just gives him an allowance)? Is he just going to let his wife take all the blame or did he really think that she was winning at the casinos? If so, were the winnings being reported on their income tax filings?

Well, perhaps we'll all learn the answers to these questions by the time the trial is over.

Signed,
Just another anonymous DP resident on Topix (and it doesn't matter who I am)

I have known Brandi since she was a child. Anyone that knows her - knows that she would never do or be associated with a crime. She is a caring, sensitive, sweet girl with good morals and a big heart!

It is a shame that she is being bad mouthed by IDIOTS who obviously don't know her personally. From the sounds of it, you sound like a jealous kid she probably went to school with. Who are you judge and throw stones????

Just because her mother committed a crime doesn't mean that her children where involved. I CAN ASSURE YOU BRANDI KNEW NOTHING OF THIS!!!! She has a awesome husband (who is defending our country) and has been on her own for awhile. She is her own individual with high standards.

Let the police, detectives sort this mess out. We are not put on this earth to judge. God is!

WRONG! The courts and juries judge people for their wrongs, everyday.

First you say "anyone who knows her" and then you say "a jealous kid she probably went to school with"... apparently you acknowledge that everyone who knew here didn't share your opinion.

So, now are you indicating that she wouldn't stand up for her mother, regardless of what she did or did not know?

You better leave the arguments to the attorneys, as you aren't making a very good case for much of anything.

Whatever!!!! You aren't worth arguing with- that is for sure!!!! Stop attacking people that is all I can say to you! Let the law and courts decide who is or is not guilty or involved. Don't you think the family is dealing with enough without being bad mouthed by others. Seriously, grow up!

It's always interesting that the more money you steal, the more courtesy you're afforded. If some punk stole a bicycle in the neighborhood, people would shoot him in the back with no questions asked.

Especially in Deer Park when the spouse worked for the city. Gambling addiction creates a need for money by all involved; pay checks just won't cover the habit and or family needs when the pay checks are lost at the table/machines.
