This is part of a letter to the editor back in August in reference to the old San Jacinto elementary school.

"It has also been suggested / discussed by council and city staff to use the San Jacinto Elementary building to house more after school children. Such an expansion would only grow the already bulging parks and recreation department.
It is important to remember that the San Jacinto Elementary school has had excessive electrical, sewer and plumbing issues which caused the need for a new building due to the aging of that 53 year old facility. Such a move would not only add to more city payroll expansion, but also add serious maintenance issues due to the schools history of problems. Plus air quality / pollution, has been an issue in recent years for thatarea.
On June 7, 2012 Mr. Stokes advised me that San Jacinto Elementary was scheduled for demolition by Deer Park ISD once the new school is operational. If the building is scheduled for demolition by Deer Park ISD, I can only assume that they feel that the building is useless with the on-going maintenance issues. Why would the city be considering such a problem plagued building which will only cause more maintenance and health issues? Especially for a program that would best be serviced by private businesses."

They built the new school due to the problems with the old building. The city would be out of line to take it over for additional after school room. More payroll, more taxes needed.

Good post, but what we feel means nothing. As the new saying says, shut the front door. Can't wait to move to West Texas next year. Already asked to run for city council. Can't wait to have my voice heard! ;)

You will be missed!!

I do not think it is how we feel. I believe it is the failure to remove the blinders so they can listen to plain old common sense.
