If it mattered so much then why did the majority vote the way they did? The attendance of voters at the forum was not enough to sway the majority of voters even if the other candidates did so well...no matter what...the election is over and we should support the man in office because he does represent and speak for our city.
The forum was a platform for those that were interested in getting to know ALL the candidates. It did MATTER to those that wanted to get to know ALL the candidates and cast an educated vote. ALL people interested MATTERED. They MATTERED to the others. Those that really care about the MATTER make time for such an important MATTER. I am not talking about those that already had their mind made up. This is not that complicated to understand. Put your thinking cap on. Just because someone is in office doesn't mean they are owed my respect. They are NOT holier than Thou. Respect is EARNED not given.

Is there a reason I should care about Bill Zastrow's opinion? Is he a former mayor or councilman, or is he just the only guy to write letters to insideDP.com ?

I am not trying to be mean, he has as much freedom of speech as anyone else (I actually applaud him to putting his name to his opinion.) I just want to know if he is speaking with some authority, or if he is just a voter.

He is an informed citizen who is exercising his 1st amendment right. The haters don't like his opinions because he is a facts and figures kind of guy. Very nice man who is bullied for speaking his mind.

I don't always agree with Bill Zastrow, but I respect his right to give his opinion. He seems to follow what goes on in our city and keeps us informed when we miss something.

Bill is a nobody who wanted to be somebody but no one voted for him. And despite what some other wannabes may say, he is quite the bully.

Bully, he is not. Somebody, as we all are, have a right to an opinion. Study The Constitution. I would suggest you stop purchasing and sipping on Kool-Aid.

Terrible election, terrible candidates.

Pound may have been the best options, but he had issues that would take him off the table in polite society, he will never be mayor with his history. Fair or not, it is what it is.

I saw what I am pretty sure was Cernosek with his younger boy, probably a grandson, picking up signs on Spencer, felt bad for him.

You got Mouton because the best Deer Park could come up with to oppose him was two guys with legal issues that would make a lot of people uncomfortable. Right or wrong it is what it is.

We earned more of the same because at this point in the game a guy who was arrested for Domestic Abuse only a few years ago (not convicted) is the best we could do. Not to mention Cernosek who was no billed for trying to kill someone with a car.

What a joke we are. So we go the guy who didn't even show up to the forum.

This is the new Deer Park.

With the changing demographics, he might be our last white mayor anyway.

Get ready to start funding the new Community of Opportunity Center for the economic disadvantage citizens that don't vote. We have Obama for another 4 and now his brother for another 2. Maybe people will start to vote and run these Socialist off.

We'll have to keep our eyes and ears open if discussions start again for the unnecessary opportunity center.

There will be a Ripley House coming to Deer Park and a welcome Center run by the C of C..

C of C should spent only the money they collect from local business and use taxes money collected in our City. Remember C of C is a private Co. which have members that pay dues.

They can do all things as long as its not by using our tax dollars. Let those who what it, fund it, like the churches and 501 (c)(3)'s. Doctor Ben said it right, keep the government out of the charity business, plain and simple. If Rotary and Chamber of Commerce members want it so bad then they should pony up the funding them selves and then we'll see how bad they want it when they use their money and not the tax payers. Just my opinion.
