Economic growth: bring in business, businesses bring in employees, employees come & live in Deer Park, Deer park will be the place to come to.

So lets look at that scenario for a moment:

Deer Park has a population of 32,010, a 12.2 % increase since year 2000. But that growth has slowed to a 7.8% increase in population since 2006 or an annual increase of 0.65%. This is a 36% down turn in the city population growth for the past six years.

Deer Park has 19,755 primary jobs. Of those 19,755 jobs, Deer Park residents are actually employed in only 2,073 of those local jobs. The remaining 17,862 jobs are filled by employees that live outside of Deer Park and travel here each day(3,000 of those employees drive over 50 miles one way to get here.

Projections from the Houston Galveston Area of Council of Governments (HGAC) indicate slow growth in population as the City of Deer Park reaches “build-out”.

It would appear, according to the available data and projections, that the City of Deer Park will not have a significant economic growth in population, so how is your plan going to benefit the city with the above data forecasts?

Bennie Boles is a tool of the Deer Park Rotary and the Deer Park Rotary is a tool of the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce....
Of course everyone knows that the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce is a tool of Shell.
I for one do not want a City of La Porte employee representing the citizens of Deer Park!
Neither Shell or The DP Chamber of Commerce care about the people of Deer Park, they only care about the business growth without any care for the families that live here.
I dont get how someone who works for the city of LA PORTE can represent the city of DEER PARK.

Bennie Boles is not the most erudite person on the planet, but he is a good person with a good heart who cares about Deer Park. Are you saying that every elected official for every municipaity should be employed by the City they represent? That would be quite a conflict of interest. We should call the Chamber and Shell and ask them to give you a hug, and let you know they do care. Without Shell or the Chamber's efforts to develop local business opportunities, there would BE no more Deer Park. Your logic is asinine.

What is this economic growth that they speak of? Where is all this going to happen?

They just wax on and on with vague platitudes. "I will champion economic growth!' How??? How are you going to encourage business to come to Deer Park Mr. Boles, Mouton, Pound and Mrs. Garrison??? Where are they going to put that business? Deer Park, you've got what 100 acres of vacant land left in the whole city? Poor planning with resources if you ask me. Maybe they are planning all this "community of Opportunity" Jerry Mouton keeps tauting by making Mr. Grisham more money by leasing some of those old run-down buildings he owns or is leasing out for others along Center Street.

How exactly are you going to improve the city worker's benefits exactly, especially after you (Mouton) voted along with the majority on council to cut some of those very benefits a year ago?

Bennie Boles works for the city of la porte..... Is that like buying stock on walmart and going to work for target?
I dont think a city official should have to work for the city it works for, but I think working for another city is also a conflict of interest

Stock investment decisions should be made entirely upon personal investment goals, income, age and a variety of other factors -- anyone who purchases stock based upon where they work should probably seek the guidance of a financial counselor and leave the investing to the professionals.

Bennie Boles' place of employment is in no way a "conflict of interest." That's quite a stretch. A "conflict of interest" would be if he were employed by a vendor or supplier of the City of Deer Park, for example, in which he or his employer or other family members stood to financially benefit from his position as a member of the Deer Park City Council. His being a police officer for another municipality presents no conflict of interest at all.

Bennie Boles may be a police officer for La Porte, but he lived in Deer Park for years (and I believe still does) and was a Youth Minister at a church in Deer Park for years. I believe he knows the city very well and has a good heart and passion for the job.

6. Do you oppose the use of public funds, other than for needed infrastructure, to
subsidize the cost of private facilities such as stadiums, arenas, hotels and other such
entities?
YES
Then how could he support 4b typeB sales tax. Remember how they wanted to build a brand new sports complex with the funds. But here he opposes it.
