Can you be a more specific?

Overrated means to rate to high or to praise highly.

DP football rates higher than any other football team in Texas..... I take that as a compliment.

Would you prefer they rate low and have low expectations of the players?

Again, maybe you should be more specific.

I'm going to assume also that you are talking about high school football. How would you know if it's the most overrated football program in Texas? Have you had personal experiences with many other cities football programs?

It is a great program. It is not only about winning games, but about making good young men and fathers for later in life. Leadership and example is the key for these young men if they listen to the coaches who put LONG hours for this program.

How many times has deer park beat a team with even close to the same enrollment to them in the past couple years.. La Porte is a great program that manages to perform despite having over 1000 less kids to pull talent from. Btw alltime La Porte vs Deer park record... 21-12 La Porte

football expert, you are incorrect of your all-time record. I'll find it but these two schools have been playing each other since the '40s. By your account they have only met 32 times.

Click on the NEWS tab toward the top of the page, just to the right of that orange DEER PARK arrow and read the timely article on the subject of Texas ISD football teams. Did anyone mention Pasadena?

Well, right up front. I'm no expert. In fact, I don't really keep up with this stuff. However, I decided to see what I could find on this, so perhaps one of the experts can explain it.
The source of the following info is here:
http://www.texasfootball.com/index.php...

ISD - Win - Loss - DstWin - DstLoss - PF - PA
DP --- 8 --- 2 ----- 6 ------ 1 ---- 303 - 149
LP --- 8 --- 5 ----- 5 ------ 2 ---- 376 - 274

Oh... I forgot to mention:
Pearland --- 12 - 1 - 7 - 0 - 540 - 175

From what I can tell, they appear to be doing better than DP or LP, but what do I know? I don't keep up with this stuff.

If we have a better HS team, will it help us do better in this economy? Will our City and school district taxes go down? Will this increase our tourist traffic, so we'll need to build more hotels and perhaps put in a carnival or other great attractions?

I really hope someone can help explain how this has any big relevance in the grand scheme of things, except for being a sport and those who just sit around claiming "We're better!".

Ok, La Porte has been playing football for 88 years with 49 winning seasons, 31 losing seasons and 8 .500 seasons. They have had 24 playoff appearances with a playoff record of 17-24-1.

Deer Park has been playing football for 69 years with 41 winning seasons, 17 losing seasons and 10 .500 seasons. They have had 27 playoff appearances with a playoff record of 25-21-5. Also, Deer Park has won 2 state championships (1954 & 1955).

Since 1994 Deer Park is 9-4 against La Porte.

BLASPHEMY! to even question the program DPTX. Participating in organized sport builds character, strong minds and bodies. Football teaches these spirited youths teamwork, strategy and how to kick butt, a useful skill in the real world. From these pools of dedicated student athletes under the watchful wing and care of football coaches come America's future leaders, "gladiators" , or maybe sportscasters.

We also know, unlike the City employees that SCOOBY has noted get paid for 40 hours and only work 20, football coaches work way more than 40 hours... so we get more bang for our buck.

All in all, even with some negatives, organized sports in schools is a good thing, part of the tapestry that makes the USA Great and adds to the quality of life in Deer Park for many citizens.

Personally I'd rather play golf at the BG.

Blasphemy, huh? LOL
Not sure about the strong minds part or even the character, although there are some real "characters" in the Pro sports that I wouldn't consider to be great role models, by any stretch of the imagination. While I certainly support competition and the spirit that built America in its growth, I'm not so sure that teaching kids to "kick butt" and being "gladiators" are most important factors in building character and meeting challenges in a civilized manner. Of course, this is evidenced by the general mentality of today's youth, which is strongly motivated by the "gansta" (gansters for you old, out-of-touch folks) mentality, as you can also find plenty of this in the Pro athletes portraying such tattoos and other marking of their associations (past or present).

Of course, there are good benefits to sports and exercise and building a strong body is conducive to good health, which should be encouraged. But, those that "eat & breath" sports, which for most, is usually done sitting on their butt (probably n front of a TV with a beer in one hand, most of the time, except when they're yelling at their kids thinking they should've been the coach or how their kid is going to make the "big leaques" with their "guidance"), hardly seems to have much redeeming value.

In any case, from DP Coog's post, it appears that "football expert" doesn't know what he's talking about... just more Rah, Rah from a LP fan, I guess.

Daily Horoscope for December 12

Virgo

A loved one is really chatty today, and they won't really know when to shut up. This is great if you don't have anything better to do than to listen to them running on, but won't be such good news if you've got one eye on the clock all the time. Mind you, you won't exactly have taken a vow of silence yourself, particularly when it comes to talking about domestic matters.
