Woman fights off knife attack in Deer Park

A 53-year-old woman just finshing up Mother's Day shopping in Deer Park managed to fight off an attacker she couldn't see who pressed a 10-inch knife to her throat. via Newsday.com

I cannot believe that my neighbors would stand by and do nothing, what is wrong with you people? I am very glad that the women was not hurt worse than she was.

This is what happens when animals are set free, they prowl again. Keep our neighborhoods safe and keep the animals locked away. This guy should never get out. Next time he might kill someone.

The cops do their job and lock people up. The DA's office does their job and prosecutes and or accepts pleas and recommends the most time for these dirt bags. The problem lies with the Judges and the Parole boards. Earlier this week Newsday reported about a parolee who was DWI drugs, fled and struck and killed a Father of 3. When will the taxpayers hold their elected officials (including liberal Judges) accountable for letting vermin like this out who kill, rape, rob and steal. Remember in November. Oust the Judges and politicians with a track record of criminal coddling (we can start with Patterson the gov).

Buy a gun and learn to use it, the cops can't protect you and the Judges, parole boards and the Governor have abrogated their obligation to do their part to protect you.

Glad she will be alright....but, put those stupid cell phones away!! Maybe if she were not talking on it, she would not have been distracted and appear to be easy prey. Most people would get involved. I'm sure we've all seen people in trouble, and virtually every time I've either seen people help or got involved myself.

I think when we read about how people don't get involved, it's either a rare occurrence or just incomplete or bad journalism like Newsday. It's no stretch of the imagination to believe that the victim and the attacker could have appeared to be just messing around. Who hasn't seen mock violence between friends? It happens all the time...
