Why is someone running for the board from Middle Island here in Deer Park?
Let me tell you something ParveyCangero. It is a known fact that as you mention they are both from Middle Island school districts that they will over embrace the BOE here. Our concern besides the children being number one, is the runaway taxes throughout Long Island.
I would be more interested in voting for a board that reduces taxes and straightens out the matter of fact daily business thats going on.
What platform are these two candidaTES running.
Usually it is to help themselves to a better, higher job in another school district.
I would vote for an honest homeowner, quite annoyed with alot of unanswered questions as to where all this money goes
Parvey and Cangero are Deer Park residents, that is the only way they can run for the BOE here. They WORK in Middle Country. Being on the BOE will not advance their careers, they are both administrators. Parvey is a principal in Middle Country. She has the experience to know what is necessary to run schools, what programs are needed and how best to operate while being fiscally responsible.

Cangero has a technology/business background. His business experience is invaluable to a district. He is a life long resident with strong family ties to the area. He is also a tax payer so keeping taxes to a minimum is important to him too.

This is not about cronyism, that has been going on here for years, it is one of the reasons we want change. So many have been hired that are beholden to those in charge. Undue influence is being used to push personal agendas. The good of the students is touted at meetings but that is the last thing on some people's agendas.

Cronyism and favoritism are two of the issues we hope to address by infusing the BOE with new blood.

Change can be a good thing. SO many residents are fed up with the system, yet will not use their voting power to change it. The great thing is, if you are not happy, you get to vote for change. If we keep things the same, then nothing will change, people will continue to complain and our district will suffer for.

I don't want people to move out because they are disgusted. My kids go to school here, I want to fight for my district. I want to remind those in charge that we residents vote them into or out of office. They need to be reminded of who they represent, THE RESIDENTS, not their personal agendas.

It is just pennies and I fear we will pay for it next year. I think it is a very strange coincidence that for the first time in memory we have a decrease and our BOE prez is running for re-election. How are districts around us seeing increases, prices are up everywhere and our district has a decrease? I'm no financial wizard but it sure does sound odd to me.
Albany increased aid. It was not through the school district though that the cost savings will be reflected in this vote. Two weeks ago they were asking for an increase. I heard an audit is coming or has arrived. If it was up to the superintendent and crew, they would of all received IPODS to replace their cell phones, an increase in gas allowance, and probably a raise or trip to disneyland for a conference.

Hey Kermit, check the other thread, I think I may have addressed some of your points. Hey, I'm not a candidate, I'm a resident who is fed up just like you are. Thanks for the lively discussion! Nice to interact with someone who gets it!!!

KERMITS RIGHT. WE NEED HELP AND SOMEONE TO PROTECT US HERE IN DEER PARK.
Can we hire police to escort us to the vote.. I want to vote no and I am 90 years old. I am afraid of those people shoving flyers in my hand telling me to vote yes.
They are intimidating. I'm afraid they are eyeing my cuff links and figuring out I am frugal.
I dont want to see these crooks continue stealing money in the deer park school district. my neighbors children cant afford to go to college because tax is so high, they are going to enlist in the army. They cant get a job in the board of ed, because they dont know someone...you know.....
and they rehire retirees, for $850.00 per day, so no new young smart people could even fill a job because they do what is called double dipping even in Deer Park.
I guess I walk to Belmont Lake to catch a fish for dinner...I cant afford to go out, or buy gas or even drive.
The dollar stores are full of taxpayers. Maybe they stay open 24 hours a day soon, we need more dollar stores to buy food. We cant afford these school taxes....WHAT ARE THEY DOING WITH ALL THIS MONEY? I heard from neighbor they wanted to burn up every last dollor so they gave each school administrator a $7,000 raise... I would be happy with a $700 a year raise.. They just crooks too

Hey Rip, you'll be happy this year there is a tax decrease so you can vote yes!!

No police escort necessary, they cannot electioneer on school property for a yes vote. Can't have it within 100 feet. You're safe.

LI was the wrong place for your neighbors to move if they were looking for low taxes. It has always had high taxes.

Thank you, I am a frail man, just barely getting by on social security. All my money goes to school taxes. I really beleive they are stealing like crazy. The children are suffering from all this. They cant find jobs after college and owe money for the next 20 years, the board of ed dont care. We are not in caring times. They only interested in themselves and how much power and money they could get.
I'm so broke and elderly, I dont know if I could go on and live with these school taxes especial in deep park. I dont feel that seniors have a voice. I cant wait till assisted Living places take over, its cheapper then paying school taxes. We seniors love to vote NO. In assist living we will join together and statr voting down all the school budgets like they do in the hamptons. The tax school is out of control.
We need someone like ZORRO to catch these crooks and theives wearing suits from A and S, and smiles like cut throats and sinners.
Are they giving out free cheese to the seniors who come out and vote?
Well, I get there early, maybe get free cup of coffee and vote NO with the other seniors.
Can access a ride be publicize for the seniors to come out and vote and get picked up and dropped off?. You sound like you know alittle of maybe something.

TIME FOR CHANGE ?
The bottom line, we're desperate, we'll take the nickel in tax reduction. The board stays. If the next budget goes up, I doubt it will thanks to the work being conducted by Andrew Coumo, and the pending audits of all the school districts, the board will quit or be replaced by people that represent the community and not people with double lives, as in these two people with BOE jobs. By that I mean affiliations with the BOE and people that dont have the taxpayers interest at heart since their salary is probably in the top 1%-3% of the community. You also say they are administrators. Administrators need to spend more time doing their job. If they did, all this runaway spending, all these broken fences and clogged ventilation systems, all these potholes on the lawns and around the school property and broken lights and leaky roofs would be fixed. We need to hire young people to replace many of these old worn out nearsighted race horses still wearing out the chairs they have been sitting in for years and their glaring shinny back side of their pants.

So, don't shield yourself with the children go arm yourself with all the social worker skills you learned and go to NYC where you'll earn $34,000 with benefits to help someone that dont want to earn it, just wants it delivered to their door. You forget senior citizens are frail and need a voice as well as people struggling ever day to feed their family and pay thes highwat robbery taxes. The only thing missing here is cowboys with bandanas over their faces, riding horses, shooting up the town and robbing the bank. This doesn't occur nowaday because the school taxes have pilfered the bank vaults emptied the citizens pockets and are destroying the home values. You don't even know the least, in the real estate turnover in this community. I bet its 10% percent a year. That means people are leaving, the community is being burdened with transient homeowners. Grafitti, filth, litter, poor home care and dysfunctional renters are arriving daily here in Deer Park. YOu and others involved in the schools and the handling of the buget are destroying an entire community. After your done, or maybe before that you'll move to another community and start your propaganda network again.
You mission has been terminated......
