Looks like it also might be a cornerstone of smearing the name of a political candidate.

Mr. Good went for a swim, had half a beer, failed to drive in proper lane(not sure what that means) and had an out of date license. He has probably pled not guilty to the things other than the license matter so that he can express the true nature of the circumstances to the court for consideration. Perhaps things will be dropped or reduced when looked at reasonably.

On face value if you donít have a strong suspicion that there is political motivation regarding certain aspects of this situation you are being a bit naÔve.

Having fun, yet?

Honestly,'Pam" what are you trying to achieve by posting in this manner - certainly not open, constructive dialogue or an atmosphere that might allay any fears that someone might have in joining such a discussion. I admit it was hard for me to imagine that Julie feared negative consequences that might affect her family but now, with the tone you have chose to post with, I understand her hesitation to disclose her identity. Would you be this rude and confrontationl to someone in person, or if you were accountable for your words? I hope not, but if this election has taught me anything, it is that I suppose I have been naive in trusting people to come from their best selves and that sadly, anything is possible. What a shame...

You're kidding right? My position is that no one here is obligated to post their full name and you find that scathing? Pitiful.

I did not take issue with your position but with your tone. For example, words like "pitiful", "ridiculous", using a diminutive of someone's name ("Dicky") and wishing that someone learn to regret their actions.

I have read over the Policies and terms of service of the Hartford Courant.
I believe the Hartford Courant is not applying to their policy and terms.
I will try again soon to call them.

What a shame that the focus has shifted from the issues at large. Let's regroup and focus on the fact that this is a political campaign in a small town that prides itself on it's ongoing commitment towards a sustainable, safe and healthy economic environment for all residents. The intelligent men and women who have devoted countless hours of their time, voluntarily, on various committees, which Justin Good serves as a fine example of a rooted citizen, devoted to our space and its future to ensure that our gem grows with grace, safely and productively and serves as a role model for other small towns, deserve our utmost gratitude for their commitment and passion in maintaining a balance between what issues need attention and the possibilities for our bright future in Chester. Please, visit
solarclarityct@aol.com and be enlightened by an human being who is dedicated to an all inclusive, new way of thinking for Chester. The knowledge, proven dedication and administrative experience of the Good/Heft team is indeed a new beginning for a bright and hopeful future for Chester. Thank you Justin, for bringing an awareness and discussion to our dinner table of what's really important. That being the economic development, sustainable energy impact we can all have as well as the intellect, experience and dignity you bring to this campaign. Let's shift and vote responsibly next Tuesday for a new beginning. Change is Good.

Thank you very much every one for being candidates for the upcoming important town election. Please be fair to one another and tret other people like you would like them to treat you. Perhaps the police can also learn from this election and be a little more fair with chesters great citizens. I know there is room for improvement with what I do and with what everyone else does also. Thank you to the police for the great job they do day in and day out.

I apologize for providing a contact phone number for the Sec of State employee that I had spoken. In my attempt to provide verifiable information I broke the rules - I did not consider a office number for a State of CT office "personal information".

Du you think that people who are in or in the line of authority, example someone running for public office shouldrun under or make oomments using their first name only? What if there are more than one person with the first same name? The Hartford Currant should not post anything unless people sign their complete name. That is just my opinion. I do not confess to be right or wrong. Now the best thing anyone can do is to get out and vote, it does not matter for who. Vote for peoples ideas and their platforms. People do not have to vote complete party lines. I usually vote for the person ending up splitting my ticket. Every one running for public office should be comended, they all have something to offer for the town. Good luck to all and malice toward none.
I do believe that the Hartford Courant should require complete, correct & legally verifiable names for anyone who is quoted in a story, writes a letter of opinion or who blogs. I believe that this information should be retained by the Hartford Courant so that if there is libel or slander the appropriate action can be taken. I do NOT feel that it should require that the information be published and as previously pointed out our court system shares and supports my feelings.
PS Would any of you pro-name sharers have a suggestion on how to comfort my 5yr old son who was with me when I was "confronted" in public today by someone who believes that if the election doesn't go "my" way I should be prepared to stand in the welfare lines?

Julie I am really sorry that that happened to you I am truly amazed that adults would behave in many of the ways we have experienced in this election I still believe though that in a community this small open dialogue, accountability and honesty will help create a more cooperative atmosphere I am so sorry that some people abuse the privilege of participating in this forum (that goes for all the non posting readers too -)

Thanks to those who have offered their support. Whether we agree on a candidate or not, we all need to keep in mind that come Nov 7th whatever the results we will all still be neighbors. If that is not enough reason to treat each other with respect and use common courtesy. Fact and reason can change each other's minds but verabl attacks and threats never will.
