The major difference is if you wear a uniform, you are generally put on paid administration leave while case is pending. If you are not an officer of the law, you are guilty until proven innocent. NICE SYSTEM. Either way, all parties involved generally suffer. Some sides worse than others. STATE ETHICS COMMITTEES should be doing alot of internal investigations regarding many seious matters that are hidden and or lost in the shuffle. SAD SITUATION for the respect we are suppose to show out men in blue. Don't they have to earn respect especially with several towns in coverups and wrong doings? Stoughton PD currently holds the record for the worst ratings, cover ups and ignoring facts in their faces, other surrounding towns are close second runners up. Gotta love this system. It works for certain individuals ONLY.

The Foxboro Police Chief told the press that
Rose Shatz was bicycling on the wrong side of the road. That fact explains why they were on a collision course, and why they both tried to move to avoid each other. Given that Fine was apparently traveling at a reasonable speed, and that he did what a reasonable person might have done to avoid a collision, I can't see that he is at all negligent (except for not carrying the proper license, which is not relevant to the crash).

Wrong-way bicycling was the cause of this crash, and it is the cause of many other crashes. The police must start to enforce the traffic laws against violators on bicycles, especially wrong-way riders (and those without lights at night, etc.). The police must also learn that bicyclists have the same right to use the road as anyone else. Saving lives in this way would be the only good thing to come out of this tragedy. But so far no one has even noticed that wrong-way cycling was the cause of this crash!

Looking at just the facts and taking he emotion out of it- which is extremely hard when dealing with a death of a child!
He is a police office- someone who is suppose to up hold the LAW. He broke many laws- this goes against the very definition of his job.
#1-He was operating a vehicle with class D license that REQUIRED a class B license.
#2- the truck had a wieght limit of 28,000 pounds and it was loaded with 33,350 pounds.
#3-he killed a 10 year girl. accidentally or not it happened.
I live in Mansfield and I don't want someone who thinks they can break any law for their own benefit sitting on our police department.

He knew the truck was overweight, he knew he didn't have a license to drive that truck. He figured he was a cop so it was ok to break the law. He should get the death penalty.

Simple as that, what would God say? God is the only one who can judge this man. He knows whats in the mans heart. It is so mean and evil what some of you are saying. Do you really think this guy wanted to kill the little girl. You are some really sick people whose words are more evil then this mans mistake.....
So many of you think he is going to just walk because he is a Police officer. Well the truth is he will get a more serious sentence BECAUSE he is a police officer. Think about it, he is in a job that is thankless, he is working a 2nd job, he has a family. For the love of God show him some compassion, God would.........

Shame on you ALL. It was an accident...both made mistakes leading to an ACCIDENT. No ill intent on either side..just human imperfection. The sad thing is two, most likely good souls, have been distroyed....while lesser ones pile on for the pure joy of deflecting your own imperfections (by the grace of God there goes...YOU in that truck/car - careless driving)for a moment of gossip and ill intent...Saten is smiling. SHAME
