shoveling the bridge st bridge

last winter was my first in dedham, and i love my house and my neighborhood, but one thing has made living here in winter both difficult and dangerous. the town of dedham does not shovel the sidewalks of the bridge over the charles on bridge st, and i do not drive. i pay the same local taxes that a resident who drives does, but mr. flanagan, head of public works, told me last winter that this sidewalk is not a priority. i have every intention of living the rest of my life in dedham, and i have no intention of spending every winter scared half to death every time i go from my home towards boston. i pay town taxes. the lives of pedestrian residents are no less valuable than a motorist's. i am not the only pedestrian in the town dedham, and all of us are being asked to walk in the middle of a busy traffic lane all winter. does anyone think that this should change?
