Navy to honor civil rights martyr Medgar Evers

Full story: Kansas City Star

Slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers will be honored Friday with a Navy supply ship named for him.Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, a former governor of Mississippi, planned to announce the honor during a speech at Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss.

It's great to see the recognition for a man who was martyred at age 37 while working to get the vote for disenfranchised citizens.
