For what he tried to do to the three Duke players, he should have done at least three to six MONTHS. There are far too many prosecutors all across the country who commit egregious acts of prosecutorial misconduct, and they do it because they KNOW that even if they do get caught, the odds of their being held accountable professionally or criminally are slim to none. As a citizen who is tired of seeing prosecutors abuse their power any way they want to get a conviction, I think it is high time that changed. Ocean Nifong's punishment was complicated. You can't send a DA to prison. That's a death sentence. Losing his job ,dignity, standing ,and license was pretty big. Trust me on that. I think he was also sued and I'm sure lost. So was the county. He didn't get what he gave but that's about all they can do with a DA. Not to mention the fear and shame he has to live with. Sooner or later a bad DA will damage someone that doesn't care enough about his own life than to get even at all cost. I remember when someone threatened my family saying to myself "I'll die killing the SOB" and meant it. Nifong has no protection and can no longer arm himself because he's a convicted felon. I'm sure he will be looking over his shoulder the rest of his miserable life. Someone may take him out and should. I would if he did that to me or mine.

You can send a DA to prison just like you can send a cop to prison. Both are equally likely targets for the general population, which is why when either is group is sent to prison, they are kept out of general population. Now, some people might think some people deserve general population, and I agree, but in reality, the prisons do have an obligation to keep their prisoners safe.

Well, I don't think anyone should take the law into their own hands, but I can definitely understand the desire to. I would just like to see more prosecutors and other officials who deliberately break the laws to satisfy their own agendas being held accountable, both professionally, and if necessary, criminally.

Sage There is a vast difference between an officer and a DA. The DA would have to almost commit murder in front of a crowd to get time. This is a crazy world right now. I believe more people are disgusted with the way elected officials are acting. They are starting to act as though they are above the law completely. The are also starting to pay a price for that.

Ocean I'm not saying its right for people to take the law into their own hands. But more and more people are lately because of corruption. I am saying that I may have the mindset that if someone tried to frame me or hurt my family then they have decided to live without the laws that protect them from retaliation. And that they deserve it. If no law was there to protect me then I would have to protect myself and the lives of my family. That wouldn't be my choice. It would be theirs.
