Stanhope Elmore school locked down

Students at Stanhope Elmore High School and Millbrook Middle/Junior High School were locked down Wednesday afternoon by school officials, said Judy Caton, a spokeswoman for Elmore County Public Schools.

My 5th grader said that all 1500 students were placed on the football field. Officials decided the field was not large enough, and the students were split up. My child ended up in the basketball gym. Others were placed in the cafeteria or into classrooms. They were at the high school for over 2 hours. At this time, we don't know if there really was a bomb threat or just a drill. If this were a drill, it was very poorly planned out. Principals and teachers should know before hand where to take these children. Also, I don't like the fact that my Asthmatic child had to walk in 35 degree weather to the high school for a drill.

Get over it. Walk in bad weather or possibly get killed due to lack of preparedness. Thank GOD it's not your choice for your childs' safety.
