We have problems at out Frenchtown plant 1, they hire people outside of the communbity which violated the contract they had with this township. Instead they keep hiring Yemen arabs from Dearborn with no interviews & background checks. Some are really good workers, most aren't and don't care about our jobs. Most these people cannot speak any English and they are killing our quality and production...wake up JCIM, you need a fresh start to get rid of the people in the feont office there!

Tom-romulus 2 facility

7 years of my life were wasted at the romulus 2 facility. I saw a beautiful facility with promise and stability reduced to rubble in just a few years under the leadership of people that seemed to just milk the ocmpany of whatever they could get and not give anything back. There was much abuse on both sides of the spectrum, by management and the workers. Upper Management was a body of people that seemed to care about one thing and that was themselves. The owner seemed to care about one thing and that was herself. Management on the floor seemed to take a backseat on issues that really mattered, perhaps flustered at what seemed to be upper management's lack of concern to customer demand, employee's needs, floor managements needs to gain what was necessary to run effectively. All due to an owner's lack of concern for what was right, who seemed to be concerned about building one thing, not a successful viable company that generations would be able to look at and say well done. Instead she was worried about building one thing and one thing only, her ego! As a result of this selfishness displayed hundreds of lives have been shattered.

I just saw you comments and I sympathize with you and your experience with the Browns. I have been in the molding and automotive industry for many years and my father was a founding partner in Convex Mold. I know how tough it can be to build a business. I also worked at GM truck Group as a contract engineer in proto-type procurement for abut five years. In these experiences I have come to understand the minority supplier and sourcing game quite well. The Browns (both Jim and Julie are real pieces of work. I also worked at one time for UTA and had some experiences working in the UTA Wauseon Plant. If you would like to correspond I can be reached at www.danm88811@yahoo.com . I am currently unemployed and actually writing this from the Michigan Job Works office. My last job was at the Norplas Fascia facility in Northwood Ohio. I was driving there daily from Harrison Township Michigan. Maybe more prayers are in order. Poor economy, slow domestic auto sales, Greedy managers and owners along with dumb-ass leaders and politicians, dumb-ass Americans that think that "Buy American" is just a cute slogan. Good luck to you in the future.

As the previous owner of Plastech Wauseon, It makes me laugh to see Julie Brown's crisis and that others are now quoting and perhaps taking work away from her. So be it. Amen.
She is a ruthless uncaring woman who is not a good business person, but someone who has been handed injection molding business on a silver platter. Would the big three ever bail me out for 46 million? No, and I would never have to be because I was knowlegeable in injection molding and I cared about the people who worked for me.
A good example was after I sold the Wauseon plant and decided to make and sell structural foam pallets, which I disclosed in the sell agreement as exempt from the non compete agreement. Even though they agreed to it,their attorney threatened to void the non compete agreement and payment if I continued to develop and sell plastic pallets. Plastech had no grounds for this, but my plea to Julie Brown was unanswered. It was a tough time in my life as I just had major surgery and was weak and depressed, but Julie Brown did not give a shit. So as I say, I now laugh when I hear of her troubles. I dont need to wish her failure, as she was a failure in the plastics business to begin with when considering quality, innovation, engineering, and employee relations.

so, a year has passed since the browns sold out their interest in plastech to jci and magna. and what has come from all the wild accusations and insinuations posted on this board in the last 18 months? nothing at all. entertaining reading, preposterous stories, but nothing that pans out. all hot air.

looking back, in the context of the GM/chrysler bankruptcies and the carnage in the automotive supplier industry, plastech's bankruptcy is just one of many. though one difference with plastech stands out -- when it went into bankruptcy, it was still profitable, never had missed a payroll, and never missed a debt service payment. it wasnt a broken business model hemorrhaging red ink, out of money and unable to pay bills like gm/chrysler/all the other bankrupt suppliers. it simply was thrust into bankruptcy by its customers not paying their bills on time -- a harbinger of what was to come.

There still are lawsuits pending regarding the fallout from Plastech's gross and possibly criminal mismanagement of funds. At least one suit involves high level automotive execs who benefitted financially from their association with Plastech. Stay tuned. As we learned from the Kwame Kilpatrick scandal and others, these cases, especially the federal ones, take time to come to fruition.

So you consider the 40 million that they demanded from the big 3 to continue on in early 2007 and got fictitious? and about the next 70 million they demanded later in 2007. What, are you a member of the family or someone who got a sweetheart deal from them? Your nose must have been and probably still way up her and his butt. And JIm was not escorted out of Ford for sexual harrasement, expense report fraud, use of company vehicles? You are so nieve!

Based on the date of the post previous to mine, this blog looks "dead". I still feel compelled to speak my piece. I worked at the St.Clair Shores facility for about 4 years and left in late 1995. I wish all of you could have seen the Julie I knew. I'm not saying she was perfect and that I agreed with all of her business practices. I definately was not a "suck up" to either Jim or Julie or any of Julie's then very young brothers. What I saw was a hard working dedicated woman who wore her heart on her sleeve. I saw Julie laugh and cry, literally. I saw a woman who worked around the clock on some days. I can go on and on. I have been in the automotive business for more than 35 years and if there is only one lesson learned worth remembering it's that the big automotive customers will drive their suppliers into bankruptcy without giving a damn about anyone or anything except themselves. Shit rolls downhill and there comes a time when one has to play the same game in order to stay afloat. Jim and Julie were as good as or better at this game even though they eventually lost. Based on how long they were able to survive proves this. Yes, we all got "screwed" in one way, shape or form but no one held a gun to ours head and forced us to work for Julie. Thank God you had a job to go to every day and were able to put food on your tables. Take the experience you gained and apply what you learned to life itself. I look at it this way-the 4 years I spent at Plastech made it possible for me to perservere. GOD BLESS JULIE BROWN!
