You'll find more coverage of Lightfest in Thursday's Garden City Observer. By Sue Mason Observer Staff Writer Benjamin Lucas could have cared less about the fireworks.

I'd love to see a full accounting of the light festival. It cost plenty in labor to set up, plus the hardware and electricity. A full accounting would never be possible from Ficano. I remember last year or the year before, the flooding prevented viewing for most of December. That year was a big loss for sure. Maybe all the years are a loss. I have seen the county begin projects such as electronic gates or a restroom and completely abandon it in two months. One in particular was at the intersection of Lakeview and AA Road.
The county seems to have money to burn. However, the sheriff has increased the revenue program in Hines over the last few months. While they have been deceptive by hiding under bridges and around curves, I have not seen the obvious bogus ticket writing of the past going on.
