I grew up in Willimantic and for the last 7 have lived in a small town in Massachusetts where the biggest problem is a murder every 2-3 years and an occasional bust on some irresponsible teenager of marijuana. It's strange to hear that all this was going on when I lived there. Although, as I was discussing with a friend that still lives in Willimantic, all these things were normal to us, we don't remember anything out of the ordinary or off because to us it was natural. It is good to know that things have actually gotten better. I was joking how reading this article in fact made me homesick. Sick, joke, I will admit.

I'd like to point out that there is a pretty major slip in this article though, Slyman clearly asked to keep his first name confidential, though at the end, we find out his name is Paul.

"Now his son, Larry Slyman, a state trooper assigned to the nearby Windham Heights housing complex, and his nephew Carl Caler, a Willimantic police sergeant, are fighting the same battle. They have arrested some of the same suspects Paul Slyman did."
