I saw a young Florida panther run from south to north across Hwy 40 just west of Highway 17 this afternoon outside Ocala. I was close enough to see it well and it did not look fully grown yet.

My neighbor spotted a Florida Panther in the wooded area behind her home. This wooded area
is not very big, it is surrounded by residential
homes and apartments. She called a trapper in to
catch it, how does a panther get into an area like
this in Titusville.

I was born and raised in FL. I have never seen a FL but hopefully one day I will be fortunate enough to. They really need our help to make a comeback.

My husband & I saw a Florida Panther yesterday about 7:30 pm crossing rte550 at the Weeki Wachee Preserve. We couldn't believe our eyes. I wish I could have taken a picture if it. If the've been spotted in Citrus County, then I know we're not imagining it!

A memorable experience!

5 years ago Three of us saw a florida cougar by nasa causway bridge, while we were fishing.

We had a long look , about 3 minutes , before it went back into the woods, it was about 3 pm bright clear day, my wife say to me is that a big dog?

I feel real lucky to have seen a florida couger

that is awesome - now if only the human species would leave it alone maybe this beautiful animal and icon of florida can make a comeback! leave the panther alone!

i was driving on county line road last friday and a large black animal, i could swear it was a black panther ran under my car. i didnt have time to react and the cat must have hit my undercarraige. as i looked in the rearview mirror i saw it spinning and kicking its legs. i thought it might have been a dog and turned around but by the time i got there a truck ran whatever it was over. i couldnt get close enough to the turn around and just went home. i wish i would have walked over and looked. i feel bad but very curious. this place is like jurassic park.

My husband, son and I were on Biolab Rd in the wildlife Refuge on Merritt Island this past weekend and a panther was walking down the road ahead of us. I am still in awe!!! I was born and raised in central florida, 60 yr's ago and this is my first sighting. It is an amazing feeling to see such a beautiful animal.

I saw a panther on my way to work this morning at about 7:30am 3/16/09. I am sure it was a panther, I have worked with dogs all my life and this cat was almost as big as a mastiff, with a long, long tail. It crossed the road right in front of my car. About 100 yards up the road there was a wild turkey on the side of the road. He could have stalking some breakfast??
The road I was on was Mustang blvd about 1 mile from Lecanto hwy (491) in Beverly Hills, Citrus county. This is a fairly busy road.
I also thought this sighting should be reported. I looked at all the Florida panther web sites and they just said consider yourself lucky to see one and don't report it.
Hi Amy and everyone,
We travel Mustang Blvd. often and see wild animals there. About a year before you sited the panther, I also saw one about five or six miles from there - in Citrus Springs. It was a most beautiful animal and I turned into a street with my car and watched her as she walked into the woods. I feel so BLESSED to have seen her!!!
Thanks for your post.
I read that panther sightings here in Citrus County and central Florida were rare, but maybe they are coming north, when the southern counties population started to swell.

I just saw a puma low crawling down the side of a rural road in Floral City. I stepped out of my home with my dog, and the dog barked and jumped off of my deck so I looked up and there it was, low crawling along the road looking for a place to cut through the fence into the woods. My dog took off after it and ran down the road until it found a path into the dense woods. It was beautiful and I was so excited to see it. I hope no one bothers it and I will get to see it again.

We live in Rotonda West. The woods near our house is being cleared to put in a fire break. Just after the sun set, we saw two young panther kits running across the road and back into the woods. Maybe their original habitat was destroyed or disturbed. We didn't see mama anywhere.
