Harbor Point Media LLC the owners of the Leesburg Daily Commercial, South Lake Press and Sebring New Sun is going down the drain. They hire and fire employees more than try to grow the business. Harbor Point Media is the worst place to work. From the CEO to the CFO there treatment of employees is both unethical and irrational. There truly are no brains in this operations, just idiots who will eventually and hopefully be terminated themselves. Like they say, what goes around, comes around. I say the sooner the better. Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

Since the new management of The News-Sun the papers quality has reduced significantly. Circulation is at an all time low in the history of the paper being in business. Michael Redding does not care about his employess only his wallet. Making people work for free, not paying overtime, removing benefits is just some of his tactics for what he calls taking care of his employees.

I don't give a flying f@#*k what kind of fear you bloggers want to create for us. Only time will tell, and we all know money talks, and BS walks. Be it for better or for worse, now that we know about Harbor Point Media (?) making the purchase of "All the Remains" of our corporation, at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We just keep plugging along selling our product in the midst of this purgatory we have been living in for two years now. So let's se what happens now...BRING IT ON!

THe News Journal will fail under the new leadership, word is out on Michael Redding for crooked business ethics. Fellow local businessmen in this community, stay away from him with business ventures, the man is crooked and eventually will undermine the local newspaper. You will get burned by this man if you enter into agreements/contracts.

HarborPoint CEO Michael Redding has formed two corporations, one called Halifax Media Acquisition LLC and the other called Halifax Media Holdings LLC. Presumably Acquisitions would buy it and then somehow merge with Holdings. Other partners in the corporations include two guys from his financial backer, Stephens Capital Partners, and Rupert Phillips of Liberty Newspapers; in a previous (or possibly a parallel) corporate life he was a bigshot at Better Built Media, the company that sold the Leesburg paper to HarborPoint. Phillips also has a long apparently-unofficial history with Gannett; most notably, he was the guy who tried the buy-and-close with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin (Gannett, of course, owns the Honolulu Advertiser).

1stADD: Stephens Capital Partners also owns the company that owns the Las Vegas Review-Journal along with a shitload of Arkansas papers. http://www.stephensmedia.com/newspapers/

So why is Redding setting up a company separate from HarborPoint to buy the News-Journal? At first glance, it looks like they're planning to make the buy and spin it the whole thing off to Gannett. At second glance, maybe Harbor Point couldn't get clearance on its own. Possible third glance: Eventually the News-Journal ends up a Stephens paper. Fourth glance: Or Gannett?

My question to Mr. Redding is why he decided to buy off one Jamie Hart and promise him a position as Ad Director in exchange for all of the News Journal Financial Documents. Jamie Hart is now the Ad Director at the Daily Commercial. A little Back ground on Mr. Jamie Hart is he was the Classified Ad Manager with the News Journal as it was going under. How odd that Mr. Redding went into bed with a former employee of the company who owned the Daily Commercial who then left that company at the time of the purchase and joined forces with him as an investor.(who obviously had inside information into the Daily Commercial and could provide financial docs ect... To help assist in the purchase of the Daily Commercial. for a price of course. How about the payoff of ownership. Now Mr. Jamie Hart who provided the documentation for the News Journal as a member of management is currently on Mr. Reddings staff as Management for the Commercial. Sounds like an all so familiar activity of Mr. Redding. Paying off insiders in companies before taking over them is illegal last time I checked.

The real question is who is Michael Redding... Oh but wait he was at one point also the Classified Ad Manager of the Daytona News Journal years ago. So why would anyone come back and take over the paper they use to work for after leaving. Vendetta??? Who are his current investors who helped steal a company estimated in value in the upper 100million figures for only 20 million. Would we be surprised to know who these investors had ties to? Would they be gaining financial status by insider track information from prior employment as well? Seems to be a common tread of Mr. Reddings. Ethics..

Michael Redding and his pet dog, Pat Rice are nothing but bullies! They treat their employees like crap and only care about the bottom line. The News Journals prior owners cared about the community and these guys only care about themselves. They use the paper as a bully pulpit to beat up on those that don't agree with them. Watch out though....... a groundswell is forming and the locals are taking notice. Circulation is not the only thing that will drop if they keep it up. Advertisers will start to fall out as the community takes notice.

from his liberty publishing days.. What you are talking about is how he was in the 90's. I never could figure what corporate seen in him. He would say all the right things to there faces but do the opposite. He climbed over anyone that got in his way.. The way it sounds If times were better for newspapers it would be a good time to start a computation newspaper. It would probably make it because it sounds like people are sick of his stuff.
