How does one go about viewing a copy of a public record/police report? I subscribe to the online crimemapping, which I think is great to know what is happening near my home, so with a case or incident number I'd think there would be a way to read the report. For example, the notice I rec'd that happened within a certain radius of my residence has an incident number of: 130200490(OBPD). Any suggestions on how to find out details of what happened? thanks for any feedback.

Suggest calling local Police departments and ask them how you can review what you want. If they’re rude, kindly remind them you’re a taxpayer. You may want to contact the FBI who maintains extensive records. Don’t hesitate to remind these people you’re a taxpayer and have a right to know what is going on in your community.
The system is law enforcement sends out reports to media who then decide where it will end up. You should read the local newspaper crime reports too.
